DD, what about Harold's Dairy Supreme? Mob owned? Best B&G I've ever had. Great grease if you can stomach it. Originally Posted by KCJoeAre you talking about the place on Admiral

DD, that's some interesting stuff. I used to go to Tiger's all the time and some of the other places. Didn't really care who owned them at the time. Hmmm...I wondered why the albums were so cheap there. A lot of history, not pleasant, but interesting anyway. Tiger and his partner Felix Ferina were "button" men or in todays vernacular hitmen. It was because of what he knew and what he had done, when the heat came down in 1984 he was found murdered in the trunk of his caddy. There were concerns that he could flip and cause major trouble. He and Ferina were both clipped around the same time.
Jezz, so DD how many would you guess off the top of your head were killed or MIA as a result of the Quey's war???? Originally Posted by vkmaster

DD, thanks for the history lesson! You have a great amount of knowledge, I'm glad this topic evolved the way it did. A buddy of mine is currently reading a book on the 70's wars...now I have to borrow it when he's done. Originally Posted by MightyninjaI met Joe several times, both before his injury and after. While he was in the hospital, the place was closed and Joe forgot to renew his business license with the City of KCMO. He was trying to keep it open to keep the liquor license for that part of town, and any future development in the River Market; everyone could see that was what was going to happen. Mayor Cleaver (If I remember right) said that he could not have it renewed. Joe tried to open without a current license, and he invited a lot of the people from the River Market area over for free food. In the end, the City got what it wanted. The property was sold without the liquor license. Cleaver did make the statement that having dancing girls in the Market was like having a toilet in your living room. He wanted all of it closed.
