Timpage. False. 5.7 is THE main choice in the military. Don't you ever watch the military channel? Of course it's not the only one but it's a super biggie. I appreciate the pm's guys. The closest thing I can find is an auction site.
I like the idea of getting casings from the military. They won't but it's a great idea.

1. M16A4: 5.56mm
2. M4: 5.56mm
3. M249SAW: 5.56mm
4. M240: 7.62x51mm
5. M2HMG: .50 BMG
6. M9: 9mm
Most of the standard issue sniper rifles are 7.62x51mm as well, with quite a few Barrett .50BMG's thrown in, and even some 338 Lapua. There are some m14's out there too...again, that's 7.62x51mm.
There are no 5.7 caliber weapons issued as standard kit to US forces. Again, there may be an ammo shortage for this caliber...if there is, it is not because US military forces are using that ammunition in the middle east....or any where else.
