I don't want my neighbors, family,a nd friends knowing. I talk to a few of my favorite regs every now and then, but the hobby is only 1% of my life now and for me its best that way. People are WAY to judgemental anyways!!!

Funny, in the military it was just a part of "over seas" life. Not a big deal. As a civilian, it's my personal life and I'm not inclined to include anyone else into it.
The reason it is illegal is that most women protect the advantage they have in choosing partners and enough men who do not hobby join with them to protect what they have. The institution of marriage is protected. The trouble is that what people do outside of marriage is no buisness of the law.Unfortunately, the majority has made it legal intrusion. Please note that in a blind ballot all efforts to legalize it are defeated. No one wants to be part of a community not 'moral'. From the responses here, even the hobbyists keep things private due to the unwritten 'sex police'. I had a workmate who had to change his screen background because in the original you could see up a woman's leg and a female co-worker not in the picture objected. Too bad they can't be so critical of frigid wives. I remember one day the Southern Babtists suggested that wives should actually submit to their husbands. They took much heat!

I find this idea that prostitution is illegal in the US because women are somehow using sex to hold the reins of power unbelievable at best.

More than likely, it comes from our society's conservative Christian roots.

How about instead of anyone submitting to anyone (unless they want to, of course), people just treat each other as equals?
