NFL and Houston Texans Superthread: Are we ready for some football?

Louis Nix was cut. Typical Rick Smith pick. He passed on 4 QBs and traded up for someone who never made it on the field

Well looks like the hammer is dropping and ending the dreams of a lot of players. They have to cut 22 players to get down to the 53 man roster.

Some of the "Hard-Knocks Stars" have been let go....

Kourtnei Brown (kinda shocked, he made plays every game. But he seems a bit soft)

Louis Nix (way to draft Rick)

Kenny Hillard (He sucks. Big and slow, I doubt if anyone picks him up)

EZ (not surprised, good guy but wasn't getting it done. Too many receivers)

The question is will #31, Charles James make it?

I'm glad the preseason is over. It's back to football again fellas. No more boring Sunday's.....

With the release of Louis Nix it just continues a long line of mid round failures by Rick Smith. From 2013 draft only the first rounder is left, from 2014 the second rounder and both third rounders are gone, from the 2014 draft the second round pick can't get on the field and the third rounder is no longer on the team. This is what kills a team. Interesting that in a recent interview Bob McNair said that "Rick Smith was getting better" which indicates that he realizes his drafting has been poor. Some people have indicated that Rick might be kicked upstairs and that BoB might bring in his own guy to handle GM duties and draft.

BoB was hamstrung last year by Smith's incompetence. He's cleaning shit up but has to keep some of the talent.
The problem is not all Smith though. McNair is responsible for the overall attitude and staying away from certain players. He is so focused on not taking anyone of marginal character he is losing talent.
Thing is, you can take a marginal guy sometimes and put them in the right atmosphere and they are not a problem. You have to vet those guys carefully and figure it out. Bad habits can be changed, poor decision making due to environmental issues can be changed by putting a guy in a different environment. Personality problems can't be changed.
Nix wasn't committed, I don't thinck Su a Flio is either. Isn't that a character problem as well. Swearinger was had some attitude and they shipped his ass off. This team could use Swag right now. His biggest problem was trying to take player's heads off instead of cover.
Does McNair not have any confidence in his coach and locker room leaders to control the marginal player? What else is he not comfortable with regarding this team?
The absolute refusal to even talk to Ray Rice was a big mistake. When BoB's tenure comes to and end here that will be one of his first criticisms of McNair as an owner and it will be well deserved.

He had objected to every single player.

Damn even Charles James was cut. Just too many DB's on the squad.

Savage placed on IR, done for the year. It'll be interesting to see if they bring in a 3rd QB or not.

Even DH's #1 draft pick, The Messiah Tim Tebow was cut. What is the world coming to?

My vote is is to make Charles James into the back up to the back up quarterback. Who needs experience? James would likely do no worse than the newly availalbe T.J. Yates...or Tim T.

Still not feeling Andre Agassi at QB.
I agree as well. The Texans have some strong leaders on the team now. We need some badasses. Look at the Cowboys, the LSU OL guy for nothing, Greg Hardy for nothing, randy Gregory 1st round talent for cheap.

We have Nix, Sam Montgomery, Keshawn Martin, Brennan Williams, the list goes on and on of worthless Rick picks. Coulda had Dez Bryant instead of Kareem Jackson too.

Mcnuttless needs to hand off to silent Cal, like Jerry made the handoff to his kid. Anything could improve the McNuttless Sr. Ways.

Looks like the Giants scooped up Louis Nix quite quickly. He really wasn't "that bad" compared to some of the other schlums around this league.

I read a report that Charles James cleared waivers and the Texans offered to sign him to the practice squad but instead he told them to "Eat a dick" and signed with the Ravens practice squad lol
