What happened to the flowers?

Leave the kids out of this. Having been that sailor, I can tell you those kids have more strength, courage and will to live than you will ever know. Originally Posted by Caleb

It really surprised me to learn that ladies kept the gift cards. I thought these would hit the trash long before the flowers did, but you are not alone in your card collection. Note to self: the effort in selecting a card is noticed. Originally Posted by Caleb

It all depends on the lady. Some ladies would trash it as soon as you leave but some will put it in a vase and appreciate it. I think its best to ask first especially if you have never seen her before
I am humbled and embarrassed by reading this thread. It has risen my level of awareness of ensuring the ladies I meet with are fully aware how highly I think of them and with more than just money. Thank you everyone for your feedback.

Billy Joel once sang, "If I only had the words to tell you/If you only knew how hard it is to say/When the simple lines have all been taken/And the radio repeats them every day."

As I've dealt with the ups and downs of emotional attachments over lo these many years, I've come to realize that, when it comes to expressing how I'm feeling, some songwriter somewhere has said it better than I ever could.

I figured that, if it's socially acceptable to buy a card and use someone else's words to express your sentiments, it should be okay to use someone'e lyrics on a hand-made card. So that's what I did. I picked the song "Cherish" by The Association, one of my all-time favorites. There's one set of lines that speak to me: "Oh, I could say I need you, but then you'd realize/That I want you just like a thousand other guys/Who'd say they love you with all the rest of their lies/When all they wanted was to touch your face, your hands, and gaze into your eyes." I pasted the lyrics into a Word template, printed it, and left in a sealed envelope with my donation. I hope it comes down on the right side of the line we have to draw in the hobby -- that was my intent, anyway. It does seem especially appropriate for the women who have become special to me.

I got a thank-you text after I left, and, apparently, she appreciated it and didn't categorized me as an obsessed wannabe-lover.
Sir L, good job. I sometimes quote a songs, but I prefer and choose mostly blank cards to write on myself.
PrettyFuckingMarvelous has a Remora! Plus he shoots himself in the foot with those elitist asshole comparisons he keeps pulling out using the impoverished euphemistically, so bash his ass all you want because shit like that makes me wanna read "Player Piano" again right after I vomit.

~ze~ I'm shocked. I had you pegged as being about as romantic as a beggar's...no wait, sorry..as romantic as an off road tire. Live and learn. I'll bring you one of my favorite gifts, a metric crescent wrench! Comes in handy working on imported products or building IKEA furniture. The rest of you need to pipe up about what you'd like to receive, not about how nice it is to receive, probably in another thread!
Phildo, glad you miss me as usual. It's funny you like metric crescent wrenches, because you're a tool if ever one walked this planet.

Oh you wanted gift recommendations. How about a ball gag for your fingers?

And this afternoon I was chatting with a very lovely lady and she had a great idea. One that might make your head explode.

Haters are gonna hate; its all they know how to do.

WTF peaceful easy feelings PrettyFuckingFabulous in attack mode? Whoa. I can't take the abuse! I'm retiring and taking ~ze~'s metric crescent wrench with me! You can't fix muffler bearings without one!

Not!!!

A wise man once said, "Stop sayin' stoopid shit, you'll stop getting busted for sayin' stoopid shit". Or, in PrettyFuckingFabulous musing terms, "When the world gives you lemons, the vacuum cleaner belt breaks".

~ze~, the wrench is safe.

I guess looking back at how this has all evolved there's apparently a much deeper reason for his recent obsession and it appears to be summed up right HERE

but i think its these types of generalizations that is what is being referred to as 'stoopid'. because after all what value does a statement like that bring, to a forum like this???

i'm in a good mood today ~ so that is my one good deed, i'm out.

back to topic...i think we should all treat the ladies special in our own ways.

*edit* SD2011 ~ that link is some funny shit right there you come up with some good ones

But only sometimes, and only when kissing. If you've been on the receiving end of this treatment, you should feel very special, indeed. I bring the gift of burn ointment for the others....

I brought a gift once.. and it ended up as the 'Don't take a dump at the incall post....." I thought it was a special, deeply intimate gift to give since you need to truly feel comfortable with someone before doing that with them.

Alas.... its turned me cold and hard towards gifts now.

Seriously though gifts are one of those two edged swords. Most times they are received well and appreciated, other times not. Like all things... do what you feel you want to do regardless. If its received well, great.. if not... well a flaming bag of poo on her doorstep next time around would send quite a message.

Until last year I kept a nightstand drawer with all my greeting cards. I effing LOVED getting those. It showed me the giver paid attention to something small on my site. A sign of someone who will pay attention to my needs in bed.

I moved, and just didn't have the place for a box of em. Sorry fellas. Just gunna have to give me new ones. Originally Posted by ~Ze~

seriously, keeping thoughtful [and maybe even somewhat thoughtful] cards is a great idea.
when it's late at nite, or cloudy rainy dreary day, or one is feeling kinda down, or whatever, ....
you pull out the box and read thru the cards, and get chills, laughs, warmth, happiness, etc. from reading them.
each card has tons of energy in them and can bring back memories of the card giver.
