I don't think you are following my scenario. My example of Ford was to show that a non-elected(as POTUS or VPOTUS) individual could become POTUS, which could provide Obama a path to the POTUS again. Ford was sworn in the 2nd half of Nixon's 2nd term, basically year 3 as was Calvin.
if Obama followed Ford's route, the presidential term limit amendment still applies assuming the interpretation of the amendment stays at 2 term only. Obama serves 2 years only or the remainer of biden's term.
however, if the interpretation says a limit of 2 consecutive terms only, then its possible obama can serve another 4 years+2 (6 years) if biden steps down in year 1 or year 2.
