Sam Cooke actually was the creator of "Soul" music! Originally Posted by DarthMaulNow, now...I don't know that I'd go THAT far! Without a doubt, his recording of, "A Change Is Gonna Come" STILL makes all the hair on my body stand up!
Sisyphus you are a man after my own heart. Frankie Beverly and Maze is one of my favorite groups and live performers as well. Originally Posted by caramelqtee milaAt your service, 'mam! "I Wanna Thank You!"

Without a doubt, his recording of, "A Change Is Gonna Come" STILL makes all the hair on my body stand up!wait. did someone say downing street? love that spot! have been jamming to mr. cooke all week-- gimme some "ain't that good news" "what a wonderful world" "sad mood" etc etc anytime!
But, Smokey...Barry Gordy...and the Funk Brothers had as much to do with it as Sam. BUT...lol...that's an argument worthy of a couple of cigars and many...MANY scotches at Downing Street some night...preferably between sets of live music!!
Where is Hastings.....I used to go to Evolution Record Store on the east side of town where I grew up when I was a kid but I don't think they are around anymore.EA, The Hastings I go to is in Lake Jackson, not sure if there are any in Houston or not. I also go to the one in San Marcos everytime I'm in town. Not sure if anyone used to go to the old Texas Tapes and Records in Pasadena on Spencer. That place was Bad Ass. I used to go there for record signings for different groups and they had all the import stuff that you couldnt get anywhere else. They had a big head shop area, T shirts, Albums, Pics, and all kinds of memorabilia. That was my favorite store growing up.
My 5..... This list is ever changing
Usher- any
Savage Garden- I think there were only 2 and both were good
2 Pac- Greatest Hits 2 disc
Temptations- Greatest Hits
George Strait- 50 #1's Originally Posted by Eccie Addict
