2016 Texas Longhorns football

Basically any team that has a experienced qb and scores at will can and likely will win. So, baylor, tech, tcu, the rest including kansas are pick ems as far as I am concerned.

They suck.
Desipite what the LHN announcers make this game out to be its versus IO ST of course the D will look good. They have only won one game. With that being said only 24 pts at 10 min left in the 4th isnt great either.

Chollie is a good coach but never had a chance at Texas. Slammed from the git-go by big donors due to how the hire was managed by a new AD.

No fired Texas coach has gone on to coach anywhere else; so Chollie is most likely done. Tom Herman "maybe" next, but really, who would want this job.
Sure coaching at Texas is easy. You get paid nfl like saleries all you have to do is win and chuck hasnt been able to do that.
Good win. We needed a win period. No reason to criticise anything this week. Congratulations.

Charlie won this game and covered the 15 point spread. The D was stingy. HOWEVER we are still yet to play a whole game where the offense, defense and special teams all play well the entire game. Soring 3 points against Iowa State in 1st half was pathetic. Saying that...great win and on to the next. I am pulling for him to get to 8 wins (counting the bowl game.) I saw a stat where we are 3-3 which is the best we have been after 6 games under Strong. Wow!
But wvu and baylor are both in the top 15. Chuck wont win against good shootout teams. I think the only almost for sure win is kansas.

But they haven't played the four top qbs yet. You cant hope to out score everyone when you cant tackle.

Also, they need a real AD not a lawyer who has no sports background.

I agree with Kirk. Unrealistic expectations by fans like going 6-1 is "realistic" Originally Posted by Congratulations

Do you know who the AD is? Undoubtedly not!

"Mike Perrin returned to his college alma mater to assume leadership duties as the interim Men’s Athletics Director at The University of Texas in September 2015.... Perrin earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics (1969) and a law degree (1971) from UT Austin, where he was a Texas Football letterman under legendary Coach Darrell K Royal...

Perrin was a starting linebacker on the 1968 Texas Football team that began the 30-game winning streak that still stands as one of the longest in the modern era of the NCAA, as well as the longest in UT school history. A great example of the student-athlete, Perrin was named to several All-SWC teams on the field, and earned honors as one of the nation's top student athletes off of it. Following the 1968 season, he was chosen as one of the National Football Foundation and College Football Hall of Fame's Scholar-Athlete Award recipient along with post-graduate scholarship winners. He lettered three years as a defensive end and linebacker, and earned numerous accolades for his overall success in campus life." [Emphasis added]

I guarantee Strong was rooting for Houston to lose. Tom Herman loosing to 2 unranked teams now isn't a good look. The diamond isn't as shinny. I think TX will start if they haven't already putting feelers out. I really don't see them firing Strong just to go on another search. If we have another loosing season Perrin won't have a choice. These players just aren't responding to Strong. Puzzling since we see his UL seniors do so well.

Anyone who has played football know its a huge difference between a Sophomore and a Senior. I'm not surprise that Texas defense is playing inconsistent. They are still young. I'm not certain but I'm willing to bet there is not a defense in the country younger than Texas. You look at Michigan on defense and they have all SR's and 1 Jr.

If Texas do fire Charlie Strong, I hope they get rid of the OC too because his uptempo style offense is garbage and puts too much pressure on the defense. Texas had too many drives that were 3 and out or drive that were under 7 play that burned less than 2 minutes off the clock. Texas lost the Time of possession in all but 1 game. When you have one of the best RB's in the country, that should never happen.

Tom Herman is nothing but hype to me. You don't hire a coach at Texas who has only had 1 year experience as a Head coach in a weak conference. I look for Houston to get destroyed by UL and Charlie Strong's Seniors in 3 weeks. I hope they make Charlie proud.
Great win over Baylor. Congratulations
The Baylor game was a good win. We'll see how good Baylor is in the 2nd half of the season when they start playing good teams. I thought ND was a good team when we beat them. What has been so frustrating about the Horns is they have a big win and I get my hopes up. Then the next week they come out and fall flat on their face. I really hope the Baylor game is finally the "turning point" we've been waiting for in Strong's 3 seasons.
