I wonder, mystic, what our dialogue ("our"...as in the majority of Icky Members who make honest/passionate contributions to these debates per said topics, ie: President Trump, former POTUS's who shall go unnamed, Congress, Hillary, MSM, NoKo, Russia / Putin, etc, etc) would look like if we were all gathered together in the comfy confines of a conference room; sitting around a large table appointed with nice, plush chairs.

I wonder if the dialogue would be somewhat less damning.....perhaps a tad more rational as far as opinions (of one another) let alone the subject matter itself? The "less damning" part, as an example, would be how little (if ever) the R-word would be so cavalierly thrown around.

For that matter, I doubt any of us would be as rude to one another as we allow ourselves to be over the internet....on chat forums such as this one. In all its glory Social Media has given many (not all, but many) of us a license to be disrespectful of people, their opinions, and their feelings.

The popular movie series, "The Terminator", in an odd way is coming true (and I don't mean that killer androids are running amok). Our technology is not the enemy (as in It is turning on Us). Ironically enough we are turning on one another via the very technology we've created. And in the process, we are slowly becoming as heartless...as soul-less...as the Terminator itself.

Trump is hardly an idiot...he alone made the Democratic Party a regional party. To never have been in office of any kind and become the President of The United States is no small feat...and he takes no shit from anybody. Nothing I can write will dissuade your opinion of the man, but be it known he has been able to do what virtually no one has in the past. History will show him to be the Andrew Jackson of modern times. His biggest asset is that he is habitually underestimated...so keep right on calling him an idiot. It's worked pretty well so far. HOWEVER!
Trump isn't totally like Jackson.

Trump hasn't been impeached, yet... Maybe Trump will one up Jackson & actually get convicted by the senate.

As a public figure optics and perception matter, and can overpower the truth. There are far more people who haven't met him and cab only measure him by what they see.

For all we know Trump could be a level headed individual too. However, he acts like a jackass in public. Therefore we think he is a jackass.

Again, he got paid for doing so, but at the root of his graft is some degree of public service and a desire to help others.

Trump is a different animal. Trump was born rich, behaves like a spoiled brat, and is only looking for ways to enrich himself. He pretends like he's a great businessman yet his only real successes come from in the real estate business, which he inherited from his father. The common, hard core Trump supporter doesn't understand this. Just because the family business continues to thrive doesn't mean he can fix all economic problems that America faces.

Trump has spent his life crushing the little guy with litigation and not being charitable and being a democrat. Now he's an America First Republican? He'll be exposed soon enough.

Price sees the system as harming his people and in return for "helping" them he does take "favors"on the side. Trump channeled the anger of the under-educated white voter in rural America who believes the system has harmed them too and if you add to that the folks that always vote Republican, you get Donal Trump as president.

The problem is Trump didn't really believe or understand what he was channeling, and now he's floundering in the face of the reality of trying to fix the problems he promised to fix. Just like the voters that continue to support Price, Trump won't lose the common rural white voter, but he is starting to lose the rest of the group that voted him into office. Price will never have that problem.

Careful, boys.....

Writing too much stuff on this thread about our MAGA Potus could annoy a provider-whose-name-shall-not-be-spoken and get this little ditty exiled to Icky's black hole.

He has predicted for quite some time that America will capitulate to an unrecognizable bureaucracy where there is little accountability resulting in a pointing finger parade...a mammoth hairball of indecision and deeper entrenchment of the status quo. Yes, he supported candidates I would rather dismiss, but mostly support for these candidates stemmed from a hope that they could make a positive impact....that never happened. Whether it's ego or genuine concern for the USA, matters not to me because the end result could be the same, he decided someone had to do the heavy lifting.

John Wiley Price is seen by most Joe Public as an agitator and community organizer to stoke the fires of racial disharmony. There is a deeper, more intense resentment from both sides of the race issue that may have improved otherwise without his presence. He is definitely a political genius. To me it is a shame that he did not turn the division lines light gray instead of bold black...he had the talent to do so....so why didn't he?
