At the risk of applying stereotypes when I shouldn't, Argentines, like Kaly, are typically much like Americans. We both have superiority complexes. We tend to think we're always right, and have difficulty putting ourselves in other peoples' shoes. If you talk to an Argentine, it will be apparent that he thinks he's better than people from Paraguay, Peru, Brazil, etc. Well, he also thinks he's better than you, but he's too nice to say so. Americans are similar. Most of us think we're better and America is superior to other peoples and countries.

America however, the majority of the time, elects governments that believe in free markets. Argentines don't, although once-in-a-while they'll elect someone like Menem or Macri who tries to straighten out the fuck ups of those who came before him, without success.

Switzerland, Ireland, Singapore and Hong Kong are all places that I'd rather live than the USA. How about the Netherlands? You get all the benefits that Kaly describes without paying for them.

As IB Hankering points out, between the income tax, the VAT, etc., the government may be taking half your money if you live in the Netherlands. Yes, the USA governments (state, local and federal) take half of my money too, because I make a lot and the tax system in the USA is steeply progressive, quite a bit more so than Europe. The difference is that the man on the street in Europe pays almost as much in terms of his tax rate as the wealthy. If you're not making a lot of money, and half or over half your paycheck disappears to various taxes, it makes a huge difference in your quality of life. You're very likely not going to be as prosperous as someone who's doing similar work in the USA.

As to violence, terrorists, etc., those are overblown. Your chances of getting knocked off by a terrorist in Europe are remote. In the USA, for most of us, driving poses a much bigger risk than violence. You're much more likely to die in a car wreck than at the point of a gun. That's unless you live in certain cities run by Democratic Party politicians, specifically the ones I listed in a separate thread.
