You guys can spew about protecting the border all you want. The REAL threat to this country occurred on January 6th. Disruption of constitutional process by duly elected representatives of the people. Every American was violated. The "Village Idiots" and their supporters need to own it. Or are you talking about those "duly elected representatives that stood on the House floor and objected to the confirmation of electors as demonstrated below".

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S-4tkOTZWH4

Democrats who praised 2004 objections to Electoral College certification now slam Hawley

Democrats objected to electoral vote certification last 3 times a Republican was elected president

So I guess the question has to be asked of anybody criticizing Hawley and Cruz ( to name two ) who took to the floor and objected to confirming electors LIKE MAXINE WATERS DID IN THE CLIP ABOVE, is it OK for Democrats to exercise this Constitutional right and treason if a Republican does the same thing or were you ignorant of the fact that Democrats have done exactly what they accuse Republicans of doing?

Yes I will. If he does something I'm not certain of or something I don't like I'll gladly say it.

But there appear to be a number of people in this forum who seem to believe that Trump is some kind of God who does no wrong and keep slurping up his lies like pigs at the trough.

If you want to know one of the things that I don't like about Biden is his kowtowing to the progressive left. Senators worked hard to put together a bipartisan infrastructure bill (which I believe that this country needs desperately) and he failed to support it properly. Even if he walked back some of what he said if it comes to his desk he still need to sign the damn thing despite what some of those on the left have to say about it. Originally Posted by txdot-guy

Too bad this thread has drifted into another "aboutism" thread. Trump is the issue. Trump remains a problem. Posters don't seem to be able to get that. If they can't defend him, then we see aboutism.

All that is needed to realize what Trump is, is what he did to Mike Pence. For 4 years Pence kissed his ass. Then Trump asked him to overturn the election. When Pence chose not to do that, but to honor the constitution, Trump has thrown him to the dumpster, with revenge on his mind....just like all the other Republicans he calls RINOS.

Trump is the biggest threat to our democracy, a terrible person, and hopefully soon will be relegated to the ash heap of politics. Originally Posted by VitaMan

It is perfectly acceptable when pointing out the faults of one President and the comments made about him, to see if those people making those comments did the same when the person they supported was in office.

Trump is a narcissist, I've said it a hundred times, I'll say it again. Then, since we are putting names to Presidents, THE POINT OF THE THREAD YOU STARTED, I'll comment that Joe Biden is a proven liar since he obviously knew what Hunter was doing in his business deals and I think the evidence suggests he not only knew what Hunter was doing, he took part in the negotiations and IMHO, actually ran Hunter's business deals with final approval of everything Hunter did.

It is typical though of people ill equipped like yourself to engage in a debate dealing with more than one person at a time and fall back on "whataboutism" when the debate obviously calls for comparisons to be made.

"Right now", it is ridiculous to say that "Trump is the problem". The problems right now are Biden, Democrat policies. Trump is no more a "problem" than Barack Obama is, injecting himself into every political issue or is there a difference between the two former Presidents going around giving speeches trying to influence the voters?

Come on man, quit being afraid of a debate. If you aren't capable of doing anything other than moaning and saying you demand we play your game and your game only, find some place else to harp.

Nobody gets absolute control of a thread, it's called free speech and for the time being, it still exists and I thank ECCIE for their indulgence in this cherished right.

The invasion of the Capitol was a criminal act by those who did so.

Now - prosecutions are underway - and those who are guilty of crimes should face penalty.

Now - please drop the fixation on the Capitol riots and , denial, and displacement of fiden - caused issues - denied by your XiNN and LSM - and wake up to reality before you wind up with a home full of DPST party mandated jllegals to care for under what was once your own roof.

Couple of comments:

"Give Trump credit,” he continues. “He did his homework well and became the twenty-first-century master of divisive rhetoric."

To my mind, that "title" belongs to Rush. Trump , Carlson, and others merely follow on his coattails. I fear that such rhetoric could be the downfall of this country.

So you are in favor of "controlled speech"? Controlled by who? I fear the downfall of this country will come when people like yourself, insist that only one voice can be heard. Are you that afraid of different political opinions than your own cause I'm not.

Rush should not have been given the Medal of Freedom...his mouth fostered the current state of disrespect and "labeling" toward political opponents.

You sure it wasn't Maxine' Waters fault disrespecting and "labeling"? Or what's going on over at CNN or MSNBC or do you want to sit there and tell me that no "labeling" of opponents goes on in media other than Rush and Fox news?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tts1q9TgXxg

Maxine waters calling for shunning republicans

Come on , man. Barack Obama gave the Medal of Freedom to Tom Brokaw who had to apologize for statements widely criticized as troubling stereotypes of Latinos.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/latino/nbc-s-tom-brokaw-apologizes-statements-widely-criticized-troubling-stereotypes-n963506

Or the sexual harassment allegations against Brokaw and NBC

https://www.npr.org/2018/04/27/606580134/nbc-culture-questioned-as-former-anchor-tom-brokaw-faces-sexual-harassment-alleg

Our fathers and their fathers knew better.

Well, not if they watched and listened to Tom Brokaw. Just saying.

Unfortunately, now about "sound bites" and conspiracy posturing than fact.

And both sides do it, Yes or NO?

"trump was never a threat to democracy"

That's yet to be determined, and the Trumpists don't seem to care about getting to the truth.

Let me ask you, do you care about getting to the truth of the Hunter Biden story and whether our President lied to all Americans or are you only concerned when a Republican lies in your opinion?

His village idiot supporters definitely were a threat to attempt to deprive every citizen of lawful constitutional process by duly elected representatives.

Yeah, a handful out of 76 million. Should every supporter of Trump then be labeled an "insurrectionist" because I thought it was a stupid, criminal act, mostly a trespassing act but there were a few more who should be more harshly dealt with if they cause injury unlike all those "peaceful demonstrators" who tried to burn federal law enforcement officials to death in a building they were trapped in. Do you think any of them should have been arrested and put in solidarity?

Trump's old, so I'm more concerned about a couple of his "hangers on" Originally Posted by reddog1951

Thank you HF - well reasoned as always.

the 2022 platforms are already 'spinning' - and republicans are the party of 'Defund the Police'.

so sayeth the psaki - and what the talking goddes head speaks must be factual and truth to all members of teh DPST/fascist party of 'diversity, tolerance, and freedom.'

BLM would have stormed the white house and the capitol, if there weren't a shit ton of police, helicopters and military preventing them from doing so.

The put up a giant fence around everything, and they had patrol cars and even the military patrolling everything in DC.

I was there.

Our government is obviously corrupt, though.

If COVID didn't reveal that to you then you are undoubtedly a very loyal party member.

"a violent uprising against an authority or government."

so BLM is a domestic terrorist organization .. and it is a terrorist act against the rule of Law and thus the authority of Government. so yes it is insurrection!

strange how the left here will not call the one what it is while claiming the other is ..

Who said I need to defend Biden and the Democrats ? That is an ASSumption you have made, one of many.

Who said I am in support of Biden and his White House ? You are too caught up in Trump lights to see straight. The problem is Trump could barely stand to be out of the limelight. It took him just 5 months to pretend to be President again.

I would love to debate actual policy in this forum but we're stuck on this issue and we won't be able to get past it until Trump concedes the election which his narcissism will never allow..
