The law signed by Carter….and promptly repealed by Reagan. What benefit did Reagan see in NOT funding mental health centers? Or was money needed elsewhere?

In the 1960s, laws were changed to limit the ability of state and local officials to admit people into mental health hospitals. This lead to budget cuts in both state and federal funding for mental health programs. As a result, states across the country began closing and downsizing their psychiatric hospitalsbest I can find, I keeps asking NYS and when, all I get is for all the country other than RR 1967 in CA, Late 60's and 70's most in ROC closed and few down sized a lot.
Basically, budget cutting.wish I could find when NYS started it, A guy I knew in the early 70's had a relation in a institution, I heard it closed. he told me his relative is somewhere homeless. His parents would look for, find. Drink down the Wild Irish Rose and walk away from his parents.
