Is asking for a deposit a scam?

Let me repeat that - I have never been asked for a deposit in Florida from a provider nor have I ever been asked for any personal info to "screen"

you're in need of a dictionary. If it's the ladder, I'll happily Amazon one to ya if ya need. Originally Posted by Gabrielle

Face it - deposits have no place in the hobby and the only people who pay them are suckers looking to be ripped off
So here's the thing Gab,

If I order a pizza and it's bad I can call the shop and i know they are going to answer and rectify the problem. If they don't answer I can drive there and guess what? The shop will still be there and can solve the problem.

If I go to a fancy restaurant and the food looks 15 yrs older and 150 lbs bigger than the picture I can have it sent back and not waste the money. See where I'm going here?

Now if I prepay a deposit and I go to the appointment and I strike the lottery and the girl does answer the door, what happens when she is 10 yrs older and 50 lbs bigger than the pics? Do I get my deposit back? Probably not.

Again while staying on topic. These are only a few of the many reasons why people shouldn't prepay and also shows how your logic is flawed.

To simplify it for you:

If I order a pizza and it sucks I can get a refund (and probably a free pizza in the future should I want it)

If I prepay a girl and she doesn't show or look like her pics I lose my deposit and my time.

I order pizza and Chinese all the time and don't pre-pay, your hooker pre pay analogy is flawed.

If my pizza/hooker is cold, smelly and looks like over stuffed crap and I pre-paid should I get a refund? Or never cooked my meal and can't find the order?

where is the manager I can go and complain? Originally Posted by signa

Don't prepay and definitely don't prepay HER. She was scamming deposits off City Paper ads 23 years ago. And yeah she did ask for a credit card number back then. And when I said cash, wanted me to meet her "manager" outside the Westin. So glad I said never-mind, and hit up Summertime Deanna that night.

I called the pizza shop on the corner and prepaid for some pizza but it never arrived.

So I posted on a pizza forum about my experience to warn other customers.

Then someone who was hoping to get free pizza from them told them about my post.

Now I have to change my number because the pizza shop is blowing up my phone with all kinds of crazy threats unless I delete my post.

Anyway, there's another pizza shop down the street. I'm wondering if I should prepay them for pizza. Any opinions?

I've never had any luck with sending a deposit. I sent a deposit several times, to the tune of 2,700 dollars altogether and not once did the girl show up. Mine were all outcall requests to my house though.
I quit sending deposits about 2 years ago.
I started trying a new approach and I offer to hand the girl cash just to show up.
I tell her, if you show up and you look exactly like your posted pictures, I'll hand you 100 dollar bill and you can then simply leave if you want, or you can stay for the appointment.
I figure that way, she gets something for her troubles and she gets to see what I look like.
I'm happy to say that this new approach has worked far better for me.
The fake girls/ ads never bother to show up in the first place, and the real ones have come, done a session and gotten an extra 100 bucks out of it.

And now all of these random people have your home address.
Well sir, the 2,700 was over the course of about 3 years and yes I was stupid. As for my address, I never worried. i had a good gig going. I used to be a traveling repair/ remodeling dude. I'd get contracted to renovate a beach house (that was unoccupied) so it would be ready for tourist season. Once I finished that house, I'd go on to the next beach house etc. The property owners let me live in the bathhouse while renovating. Heck I had 16 different addresses in 2 years. That work was actually a lot of fun, plus the girls thought I owned the house....
