Trump is out of Maine!

At this point, even if a bunch of idiots write him in, he isn't going to have a long shot at getting enough electoral votes to win the office. That is, unless he doesn't try to implant fake electors or try another coupe out in the open again

Let’s see how bad Trump trashes Maine.
The country, right? Not just Maine.

Because our country is sleepwalking into a dictatorship and we should all be shaking in our boots.
First Colorado, now Maine. Others will surely be following, as neither of those states are true blue (purple, at most).

Look, if Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution means anything, the SCOTUS must allow states to remove him. If the 14A doesn't mean anything, then none of the Amendments do, and this country is fucked.

Thanks trumptards.

BTW- if the SCOTUS decides to punt this back to the states, where almost 90% of laws are decided on, especially relating to elections, then the states who say the 14th amendment is interpretive to specific requirements. Trump was impeached for exactly the wording in the amendment. He just didn't get convicted by the senate pussies as they viewed it as a "political" motive, but yet most when asked directly said it was indeed below board and should have consequences. The real insurrectionists that matter were the senators who failed to hold this asshole accountable. But that would take courage and a backbone.

Imagine what TRUMP will do without fear of accountability- talking off the rails crazy train shit. He'll be 10x worse in a second term and the ppl who could have saved democracy at the end of his term, failed to do so. Fucking Pussies. This is literally about keeping a person who isn't fit to be a president out of the office.

I fear that the SCOTUS will do a few things.
  • Rule that presidents while in office are not subject to laws.
  • Rule that states rights supersede federal laws and amendments.
  • Rule that anyone seeking the office of POTUS must have been charged and convicted by a jury to say they were an insurrectionist.- (subject to state laws)
  • Trump will be allowed to stay on ballot till he actually gets convicted of felonies or crimes relating to voter rights violation- and even then he will not be forced off the ballot.

Sadly- it's his flunkys who he lined up in the court and they are gonna watch which side of the bread is buttered and by whom. While we can amuse ourselves that they are a non-political body, they are indeed placed there for political purposes, by political bodies. Just another rubber stamp in most cases.
  • Rule that presidents while in office are not subject to laws.

I fear if SCOTUS does this, then Trump would have all the legality he needs to literally tear apart any remaining shred of democracy the country has. If POTUS doesn't have to abide by the laws, he will interpret this as not needing to abide by the constitution. He will get rid of any kind of voting that we have that would take him out of office... Our elections will always show Trump wins by 97%, and anyone who poses a real, credible threat to him might accidentally start to fall out of windows. Just like his mentor, Vlad Putin.

Lol. Ok. Your argument is basically that every country on earth incorporated "reckless & irresponsible economic policies" at the same time. Originally Posted by tommy156

Funny how you are so quick to say Biden has no control over inflation when it goes up, but when it slows down he deserves all the credit - “he’s done a good job of getting it under control”. That’s called blind partisanship. My guy gets all the credit for favorable trends, none of the blame for fuck-ups. Lol. If you want to have any credibility, you need to be able to admit Biden has made mistakes and some of Trump’s policies actually worked.

Anyway, back to the intended topic, if trump's sham, illegitimate SCOTUS covers his ass here, therefore scrapping the 14th Amendment, we are in deep shit as a democracy. Colorado had the balls to stand up to this career criminal, and only trump's sham, illegitimate SCOTUS can save his ass on this one. Originally Posted by tommy156

The senate acquitted him because the senate was controlled by his people.

The senate doesn't have any power to overrule an amendment of the constitution. Originally Posted by onawbtngr546

The reason the Senate acquitted is two-fold: 1) Trump was leaving office in ten days, so there wasn’t time for full hearings involving anything resembling due process, and 2) many Republicans were prepared to vote in favor of censuring Trump (in lieu of impeachment) but Democrats refused.

All I have to say about this, is if the SC overrules the reach of the amendment, then... there will be upheaval... Originally Posted by onawbtngr546

Once again, the SC doesn’t “overrule” a Constitutional amendment. It merely delineates how, where, whether, and to what extent it applies.

The fact that some people are still defending an obvious attempt at turning the nation into a pre-ww2 Germany as nothing to worry about is just cause for concern. The people planting these seeds will not be alive to see their bounty. Originally Posted by onawbtngr546

Anyway, if the 14th Amendment means anything, trump will be off the ballot in many more states to come. If his sham, illegitimate SCOTUS covers his ass AGAIN, we will be on the slippery slope to living in a dictatorship. That's the real topic here. Please try to stay on it.

Again, no. The people who are allowing the country to turn in to a dictatorship are both parties. One is doing the deed, the other is standing aside screaming at what is going on and not doing enough to stop it.
