The conclusion from previous investigations is there were attempts by Russia to influence the 2016 election, but never rose to the level of actually doing so.

The Steele dossier was included in the report as a compromise between the CIA and FBI. It arrived at a late stage and was not verified.

The current investigation that just opened is just to stroke Trump.

The Russians did interfere in the election. There was credible evidence to investigate. Trump and his associates appeared to be publicly supportive of the Russians releasing confidential documents. And in the end the investigation concluded that Trump was not involved and the inciting report was falsified not to mention Trump won the election.

What exactly is the charge that they are trying to make?
