The Tea Party

Why is it then, Shitstirrer Jon, that Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann draw the full ire of liberal shit-stirrers like you if the Tea Party is 90% white men as you claim? Originally Posted by I B Hankering

"Tea Party supporters are mainly white and slightly more likely to be male, married, older than 45, and more conservative than the general population."

Hey, I like the photos showing a crowd of 20 white people and one black person. Thanks for proving my point! Haha. Originally Posted by ShysterJon

I think that you're the one asserting the tea farty is diverse. So give us a poll or something showing the tea farty is made up of a diverse group of different races, religions, political preferences, sexual orientations, and genders. Originally Posted by ShysterJon

The Tea Party movement has nothing to do with race or gender for that matter.

You misread my post. I'm saying the members of the tea farty are the same element in society that wanted freedom to own slaves, imposed the Black Codes, use child labor in factories, and bar blacks from colleges -- the small, loony minority who thinks that 'liberty' means to have rights requires denying rights to others. I consider myself a tea party member and I don't want those things. What I do want is smaller government and less taxes. I would like to see people accept personal responsibility rather than having it imposed on them through more laws. I think charity (oops I said welfare, freudian slip)begins at home. I want the constitution to be followed and I believe in the golden rule. What is wrong with that?

You know, Dali, you're not impressing me with the intellectual acumen of the average tea fartier.

WTF - you are not the only person that understands politics and how the government works. You should assume that others can have a valid point of view that you may disagree with. Originally Posted by Laz

I'm not saying there aren't blacks and Hispanics in the tea farty. I'm saying it's a lie that blacks and Hispanics make up any significant part of the tea farty, as the tea farty claims. The tea farty is simply not a big tent entity. It's an entity largely made up of one demographic -- older, conservative, white males.

I guess you can respond, "Hey, our door is open to minorities." The point is, nearly all minorities (and a vast majority of other Americans) don't hold to the tea farty's ideology (although we may have in the 1800s), so we don't wanna join your Cracker Club.
