Welcome back Marfreless!

Went opening night. About 5 tables downstairs in one open area, Upstairs isn't open yet. Total waste of our time. I think they jumped the gun on the grand opening by two to three weeks. Originally Posted by rlowden

Very Interesting indeed! Never heard about it before it closed after reading the post on here, I will definitely be putting it on my bucket list. All I need is to find another brave soul to take with me! Originally Posted by AdventureAdams

That was me who gave him the intel. I was excited about checking out Marfreless, and figured going on opening night would be a nice feather in my cap.
So, the door man advised me that it was a very soft opening, and that the upstairs won't be open for a few weeks. Upon going in, I was reminded of a speakeasy in its pupal stages. It remains to be seen if it will become a beautiful butterfly. As of last night... Well, I've been in restaurants that were not so brightly lit. All the tables were very visible... I didn't stick around.
It may be worth a visit around 2/7ish, to see if they make good on their promise to reintroduce the intimacy of the upstairs to the establishment. Originally Posted by Amelia Sterling

it sucked when they didn't have a waitress for upstairs... had to run up and down to get another round. Perhaps bottle service would be a welcome option for some. I always hated walking up and down those stairs in heels holding drinks and drinks holding me...

Hell yes LMx, Ketel One martini, very dirty for moi.

It was kinda like being part of a small "naughty" club that not many folks new about (in reality many did), but it was different. There was no signage, you had to know where you were going or go with someone that did.

And for those of you who are interested, that was the only type of music that was played and they did not normally take requests. DOn't know if that is how it will be in the new incarnation or not,

I think the new place will be nice. Probably best to wait a few months for the newness to wear off...so all the curious and uninitiated can thin out before things settle down.

I always liked the atmosphere before.....a few things could have been better....but, it was always cool because it was never overcrowded.

I think with the valet parking.....it's going to be a money maker.....If the parking lot was full.....you had to be careful on that side street....park wrong and your car would be gone..........

Finally got to check out the new Marfreless this weekend.

It's gone majorly upscale. Pretty people in their twenties packed 3-4 deep at the bar. Valets, Doorman, floor managers...felt like Treasures. Upstairs is open with waitress service. Lots and lots of new sofas upstairs. Slightly different layout from the before days with the loft part of the 2nd floor now a long stand up bar around the edge. Their was a tad of making out upstairs but nothing like before.

Loud, awful club music. Thumping away to make sure you cant talk to your date. Why do lounges think this is a good idea?

Drink prices weren't too outrageous. 9-10 bucks for good cocktails. If there was a dress code it's pretty loose. A few guys and gals in shorts and jeans - but they were pretty.

Like someone else said, I'm hoping in a few months after the shiny wears off it will be as before.
