Texans can’t help being the Texans. Taylor has a hammy injury which takes a while. Team looks decent. Looks like a solid 500 team. Nothing great

Quarterback Tyrod Taylor’s hamstring injury could keep him out for four weeks.

Taylor was injured in the second quarter of the Texans’ 31-21 loss at Cleveland, and he was replaced by rookie Davis Mills, who’ll start Thursday night’s game against Carolina at NRG Stadium.

Depending on how quickly Taylor’s hamstring responds to treatment, sources familiar with his situation haven’t ruled out an earlier return, but the Texans have always been extra cautious with hamstring and groin injuries and aren’t expected to rush him back.

I will say this about the team. It appears better coached, better prepared and with better play calling than at any time under O'Brien. They just don't have the horses to compete with the better teams.

After 5 games a few things are very clear. The McNair family is more interested in having their type of players and staff, man of faith than getting people with football skill and knowledge which is why Jack Easterby will be around for a very long time. Winning the Super Bowl is secondary, they will accept how many wins their type of staff and players will get them. Davis Miles will be the QB for a number of years because he is just what they want, same thing with head coach David Culley. Someone who is not going to give them any problems. The team just does not have the players to compete with the better teams and they don't have excess draft picks to draft the players they need. They just wasted a pick when they released a WR they gave up picks for and kept a 36 year old WR they promptly put on the inactive list. Almost the entire team is made up of players on 1 or 2 year contracts and if they play good the team will have to pay them a lot of let them walk. In the grand tradition of the Texans they are getting rid of players no matter the talent level if they don't fit their "culture" which is why they made their best defensive player inactive. It will be a good 4-5 years before the Texans become anything above average and honestly as long as Jack Easterby and Cal McNair are running things this team will never be elite.

Jaguars won today. The Tecans are back in the hunt for a top 2 pick.
