Actually Kat's version/arrangement showed more talent than the Cure musically speaking....Not a fan of Blues, Jazz, R&B and whatever "etc" might entail.
Say this based on being in and playing in a group that mainly played Pop, Blues, Jazz, R&B, etc, many moons ago in college.
Again that Punk genre never impressed me musically.
