Music..now and then..what are your favorite

A friend I worked with in Buffalo gave me tickets to see this new English band who were playing in the gym at Buffalo State around 1973. I went and saw Genesis with Peter Gabriel with about 500 other people. My first experience seeing performance rock. Unbelievable watching Gabriel turn from a young man into an old man in a puff of smoke, or listening to him sing Watcher of the Skies in backlight and him wearing bat wings.
Paul Simon, Jethro Tull, Allman Brothers W/ Duane Allman, Blood, Sweat & Tears w/ Al Kooper (I agree Jokacz), Boz Skaggs, Bruce Hornsby, The Beatles, Chicago w/ Terry Kath. Wow, I could go on and on. Best albums:The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper, Spirit: 12 Dreams of Dr. Sardonicus, Alan Parson: Turn of a Friendly Card, Manassaas first album, Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon, Santana: Abraxas. Songs I play a lot: Cat Stevens: Father & Son, Annie Lenox: Walking on Broken Glass, Stephen Stills: Do For The Others, Blood, Sweat & Tears: I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know, Bruce Hornsby: The Way It Is. Actually Kat's version/arrangement showed more talent than the Cure musically speaking....
Say this based on being in and playing in a group that mainly played Pop, Blues, Jazz, R&B, etc, many moons ago in college.

Again that Punk genre never impressed me musically.
Always preferred pure harmonies/musicality, to the Punk garish makeup and intensity groups like Cure project...ijs Originally Posted by Celso

Huge fan of Alternative, Techno, Grunge and Ska (No Doubt) and Solo Ladies like Natalie Merchant, Jewel, Paula Cole, Sara McGlaughlin, Alanis Morissettte, etc.....
Different strokes.... I guess.....

And if I ever hear Kat's version of Just Like Heaven again... I'll puke a little bit in my own mouth.... no matter how pretty she is.

Ditto seeing Collective Soul and Marilyn Manson on consecutive weeks at Impaxx and Weezer and Offspring at the bar next to the Airport Driving Range.....

Plus... it was so easy to get laid at The Continental and The Icon......
And Celso.... never discount "Techno" and my other faves.... Best part of all of those genres???? Lot's of strobe lights on the dance floor.... and NO ONE looks bad dancing with strobe lights flashing.... not even me.....

Freddy Mercury had a hell of a voice, though I am sick of hearing Queen bastardized by marketers.

Frankie, from Blow by Blow, best cut on the album, a classic:
