Sounds like media hyperbole to me. If you take all of the shootings out of the equation which are the result of other criminal activity i.e. gang avtivity, drug trade the number would drop substantially. If you want to do something about the number of shooting related homicides do something about the gangs fighting over drug turf and "colors".

Exactly. Most of the original argument was if we had legislation (on something like "hi-capacity" mags) then all this violence would go away. That's a pipe dream As Cheaper said (and I said earlier), violence has been a part of our nature since Cain slew Able. Nothing has changed that in 4000+ years of recorded history. But making another law won't stop the real crime. It will only disarm the law-abiding populace. Do you think a gang-banger cares what the gun laws are? Do you think he went into the local gun shop, passed a background check and paid market price for his weapon? Not a chance.
