Now, now...I don't know that I'd go THAT far! Without a doubt, his recording of, "A Change Is Gonna Come" STILL makes all the hair on my body stand up!

But, Smokey...Barry Gordy...and the Funk Brothers had as much to do with it as Sam. BUT...lol...that's an argument worthy of a couple of cigars and many...MANY scotches at Downing Street some night...preferably between sets of live music!! Originally Posted by Sisyphus

WOW, that's one great album. "Dimanche A Bamako" has to be one of my fav by them though...

I like that list Johnny #'s...You have a different genre' covered. That shows you are an international or get wasted and listen to different music.

Either way...Thanks for the contribution!

Some of the choices that have been posted in this thread have me a bit intrigued. I'm going to have to do a little research and hopefully add some new music to my collection.

Great thread!!

I have a perilously short attention span, so my faves tend to be what I am listening to now, which are:
Steely Dan - Countdown To Ecstacy
The Fiery Furnaces - Widow City
Los Campesinos! - Hold On Now Youngster
The Who - Quadrophenia
Tegan And Sara - Sainthood
X - Under The Big Black Sun

Great thread, losts of interesting-sounding music I will have to check out. Thanks, ya'll!
