Anyway, as far as this thread goes, I think it's improper to text at the last minute in order to cancel unless there is a legitimate reason. Granted, she at least texted the OP to cancel, which is much more considerate than an outright NC/NS, so credit should be given where it is due. The provider in question is a human being, not a machine, so physical exhaustion would potentially be a legitimate reason to cancel. However, I agree with the OP that after only ten minutes, the sudden cancellation seems a bit rude.

The proper thing would have been to cancel earlier, or at least explain the reason and try to work something out. I'm sure if the shoe were on the other foot, the provider would not have been too happy if a client were to suddenly cancel, without much explanation, after having confirmed ten minutes prior. It's simply in poor form. This thread escalated into something that it shouldn't have, and was a situation which could have been peacefully resolved. Nonetheless, the OP was well within his rights to contribute this information to the community.

Really need to look into upgrading your accounting dept...or at least become more consistent with your silly BS....

I printed out this post and put it around my garden. The flowers are doing great, its better than any other manure I've tried.

As y'all know, I am often brutally honest, even at the risk of business so I won't beat around the bush. When jan set the appt at 1pm I was just making it into KC after driving 12 hrs with a mere few hrs of rest. I felt optimistic that I would be alive awake alert and enthusiatic for that appointment. When 715 rolled around I still felt overly optimistic that I was a living ball of energy. It wasn't until it came time for the appointment that I realized just how tired I was. As I have proven time and time again, professionalism is of utmost importance to me, and it is in this that I made my mistake. I felt that it would be better for me to cancel the appointment than to be lifeless and boring during it, and I still feel that this long thread bashing me for one mistake is far better than a bad review and a client not knowing me at my greatest (which is fully awake). I texted jan as opposed to calling because my new hottie Vix was in the room, and I felt embarrassed to be cancelling as I knew it was unprofessional. As y'all know, I have very high standards for myself and for the girls I associate with, and I didn't want for her to think I saw cancelling at the last minute as an acceptable move.
Again... I was tired, and that's really all there is to it. I am ashamed to have to be posting this on a public forum when it was really a private matter. And I don't much like having to justify myself when I have the solid reputation I have worked hard to build, despite the common misconception that a girl of my age cannot be both professional and wild. But again, I understand, it was unprofessional for me to have cancelled at last minute, and I wish that Jan would have responded to my text so that I could have explained it to him.

I wouldn't like it one bit. But I would respect her for the truth. And if she showed some appreciation of my inconvenience and I really want to see her, I would reschedule. Again, I am not saying that you, Ella, were or did anything other than be exhausted. One lady, a favorite of mine, canceled on me twice. She was upfront about it. Both times, she gave me an excuse which made sense and I accepted. She did what she could to offer me some consolation. It slowed me a little from finally meeting her, but when I did, she rocked my world. It remains one of my best paid dates.

What is weak is that you appeared to the client to be fine at 7:50 but then at 8:00 said that something came up. Perhaps a preemptive warning earlier about a long drive and being tired would have helped. Maybe kindly request him to bring an energy drink or be ready to massage your sore body. Then at 8, text him that you are exhausted rather than 'something came up'. [I will assume that this is indeed roughly the message that he got and that you were indeed exhausted and not blowing him off for something else or another appointment. I take people at their word, until they have discredited themselves.] 'Something came up' leaves his mind to fill in the details. It is an excuse that is easy to disbelieve. Guys start wondering whether they were double booked, another guy offered more money for the slot, a well-known VIP client took the spot, or a guy arranged for a 2+ hour date. And yes, you did say that he did not text back to get details. Maybe he was driving. Maybe he was frustrated. I, myself, would text back for further info. That doesn't stop you from sending him further texts or a PM elucidating the matter and hopefully desiring to make-up for his inconvenience.

Try this text: "I am so sorry. I had a long drive all day and exhaustion is suddenly catching up. Please lets re-schedule, with a extra benefit to you. Would you like an extra half-hour for your inconvenience? Tomorrow? I promise to leave you more exhausted than this. I look forward to making this up to you."

Something like that might have won you another good client and another good review.
