not really...I mean it showed that Alabama had the superior team. Texas had a chance to get the job done and could not do it. They have not sniffed the playoffs since. That their QB got hurt early really did not make any difference. Originally Posted by Look-at-Stupid

BTW - that is the only game we have ever lost to Alabama.

Texas should have played Florida in 2008 for the title rather than ZerOU. Texas beat ZerOU in the now famous 45-35 game yet the edge went to ZerOU. well the Big 12 changed their criteria to give more weight to head-to-head matchups which should have sent Texas to the National title game against Florida.

ZerOU looked like dogshit in that game. they blew so many red zone chances it was pathetic. they gave it to UF.

remember the 2004 season and sports writers complaining about Brown openly lobbying for Texas to go to the Rose Bowl against Michigan? well Brown turned out to be right. Texas had destroyed Texas Tech and Leach that season and when Cal and Tech played in the Holiday bowl Tech blew them off the field and Texas beat Michigan in a classic game. so he was right all along. and that win propelled Texas to the 2005 title in yet another classic against USC.

also recall that the year before, ZerOU got destroyed by the same USC team Texas beat the next year. i knew several diehard ZerOU fans where i worked at the time and told them all they'd get killed by USC. they scoffed of course. i even told them how the game would go, i said ZerOU would get the ball first on the coin toss.. Stoops always take the ball, not defer to the second half. they marched down the field on power running by Adrian Peterson and went up 7-0. So what does Carroll do? exactly what i told those ZerOU fans he would do. He stacked the line against the run, took Peterson completely out of the game and put it all on that overrated bum Jason White who sucked! i told those ZerOU fans the game would be over by halftime and USC would win in a blowout. that's exactly what happened. USC 55 ZerOU 19.

In just 26 games with the Panthers, Fitzgerald caught 161 passes for 2,677 yards[34] and set a new Pitt record with 34 receiving touchdowns.[35] He was the first player in school history with back-to-back 1,000-yard receiving seasons,[36] and his 14 games with at least 100 yards receiving broke Antonio Bryant's previous all-time Panthers record of 13.[37] Fitzgerald's 18 straight games with at least one touchdown reception is a NCAA record.[38]

The FBI’s numbers track a handful of violent crimes: Murder (including non-negligent manslaughter), rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. The “uniform” part of the statistics breaks them all down by incidents per 100,000—so a murder rate of 3 (which Lubbock has) means that the city, with its population of 239,000, actually had more like 7 reported murders in 2013. Houston, with its murder rate of 5.9 and its population of 6.3 million in the metropolitan area, would have seen over 370 murders, by comparison.
Speaking Of Houston

Houston is the only one of the five most populous cities in the state to place high on the list, at #3. The types of crimes reported in Houston are fairly different from what you’ll find out west, though: While Odessa and Lubbock both go heavy on assault crimes, Houston’s robbery rate, at 233 per 100,000, is nearly double that of the top cities on the list. Its murder rate, as mentioned above, is 5.9 per 100,000.
