The bigger point is.. the one paper that refused to settle.... ultimately won in court. This is why I'm pretty comfortable in feeling that the settlements aren't large figures... most of these media outlets know that ultimately-- the burden of proof is pretty significant. They settle to save lawyers fees and to be done with it. Lin Wood knows it, too--- he's not going to turn down a high 6/low 7 figure offer. One.. its a big risk and two.. the media will spin the kid into a money grubber-- which will impact his future as well.
