Do you think the teachers at Sandy wish they had been armed?

That's a pretty stupid statement. Nobody is in favor of a lunatic storming a school and killing anyone but if I was in the school I would certainly prefer to have a weapon if a lunatic does decide to pay a visit.

Now I would be in favor of a hardcore firefight between a teacher and a lunatic in the middle of school if the alternative is the lunatic lining everyone up and going down the line shooting them. Originally Posted by Budman

I digress ...

theres almost a 100% chance the teacher will be armed with less firepower than the person on their mission to kill everyone in sight

theres almost a 100% chance the teacher couldnt stop anyone from storming through a classroom door unless said teacher was drawn and sghted on the door entrance and fired the first shot ... like Elizabeth said, theres no time out let me get my gun scenario ..

not sure what the chances are about the teachers abilities with a handgun under pressure ... BUT cutting paper is a far cry from hitting something thats shooting back .. the vast majority of peope cant do either .. if a teacher misses and kills a kid, regardless of the final outcome, arming teachers would go away as fast as it started.

other than arguments sake, theres no upside for a teacher to come to school strapped.

As a CCP holder, multiple pistol owner, gun collector, hunter, and NRA member, IMO arming teachers is totally inane when you consider the big picture.
Three trained police fired a shit load of rounds at a car never hit the car,but did wound a woman in the leg as she ran outside to gather up her kid playing.

locked steel doors on all classrooms during class comes to mind ... tanamount to steel doors between passengers and pilots on commercial airlines .. couple that with with one way in and one way out locked steel doors at the school enterance during the entire school day ... not a complete failsafe, but better kids living under lockdown than being killed with open door policy

So, according to Lexus, no one should be allowed to have a weapon since they can't afford the investment in time and money to get all of that training. Did I paraphrase you correctly? So Lexus is a gun grabber. Originally Posted by JD Barleycorn

There are a lot of administrative and economic factors in arming public school staff when the simpler and safer solution would be to put police officers in place in the schools who already have minimal training 10 x's that of the teacher when he or she walks out with a CHL and who can have that training expanded to encompass the challenging requirements of confronting a shooter in a crowded school facility.

"Hardening" class room doors and entrances to schools has already been mentioned. Those solutions cost less, involve less risk, and can be implemented faster than training 100's of teachers over years of time with the associated costs and liability exposure.

Someone has sold some CHL holders a bill of goods. It's not the fix all solution.

Unless, of course, one carries a .22 Glock into the mall and scares shooters to death.

The left is screaming for more gun control and some have demanded a gun ban. Okay, answer me this; if you had asked the teachers and administrators at Sandy Hook whether or not they would face down this freak with a gun or without a gun. How do you think they would answer? How would you answer if the mall or business you were in were under attack? Originally Posted by JD Barleycorn

So your whole thread is like you: useless

Explain to us, Wave, exactly what is "proper gun control."
If the shooter would have showed up at the school President Obama's girls went to, he wouldn't have gotten off a shot before the Secret Service took him out.

...and if he would have gone to a US Embassy, well....

And even if you would allow guns for your protection, why should you need more than 1 gun? Or more than 2 rounds?
Ever been in a situation where you had to shoot 6 people for your own protection?
I don't think so.
