Anyone watch HBO True Detective?

I think he is the uncle, maybe, of the man with scars. That Delores lady never said who his father was (onlyChildress, LeReaux (sp) something but I bet the sheriff is another illegitimate son of that Sam Tuttle (there might me quite a few of those in LE... ijs. Did Marty ever speak of his father? Just that his mom was a donna reed type right? I could easily be wrong).

I think its a religion of "they own". A cultish spinoff of santaria and voodoo, like they were saying. The tone in that lady's voice changes significantly when she asks, "You know carcosa?". Very sweet and gentle-like. As if talking to a child. It through me off. Had to watch it again.

Needless to say, I can't wait for next week.

Did anyone know what was on the video Hart watched? It was a snuff video of Marie Fontenot, the missing girl, the sheriff is lying about. He's involved!

After some research I found that Carcosa is a fictional city in another place of the Universe in the book "The King in Yellow" ...

There are written on Rust's wall three big words: "King in Yellow" "Carcosa" and "Scarface" I believe they are three clues and Im sure within the book there is the answer for the riddle ... but where? ...

Along the shore the cloud waves break,
The twin suns sink behind the lake,
The shadows lengthen
In Carcosa.
Strange is the night where black stars rise,
And strange moons circle through the skies,
But stranger still is
Lost Carcosa.
Songs that the Hyades shall sing,
Where flap the tatters of the King,
Must die unheard in
Dim Carcosa.
Song of my soul, my voice is dead,
Die thou, unsung, as tears unshed
Shall dry and die in
Lost Carcosa.

McConaughey is having one helluva year! Love him in this show.

Then he wins best actor at Oscars for Dallas Buyers Club. I can't believe how thin he was in that movie!

Also played a great character in Wolf of Wall St. Glad a Texan is doing well!

The series pretty much has it all. Whoever put this together might be able to do justice to a Dean Koontz novel..(hasn't happened yet..maybe someday)

I got the creeps last week when Rust showed Marty the tape. Remember the logo drawn on a paper plate, the daughter in trouble for drawing naked people and then the line about her husband helping keep her on her meds.
I suspect that Marty may go all Naturallly Born Killers on Sunday.

And yes, that tape creeped me out too, especially Marty's reaction. I liked when Marty said "you shouldn't have that" and Rust said "nobody should have that."

I think Marty always knew about the Tuttles, think everyone in that town knows too
Geez, the final episode.........pretty intense.
Gonna watch it again....sooo much stuff to look at in
each scene
I thought Rust was gonna die for sure. But I guess that would be too much of a happy ending for the darkness theme of it. Excellent performances all the way around though. Epic series. Just fantastic and complicated and raw. One of the best. I heart HBO.

I agree with you Babe.....good high level, quality entertainment...and a very thought provoking story, taken from today's headlines while referencing past literary works.
I think that Matthew might win an Oscar and an Emmy back to back.
But I was equally impressed by Woody Harrelson's performance, especially in this last episode.

Thought Rust was gonna be a tragic hero as well, glad to see he wasn't. Possibly a return in the future with the two? I wouldn't be against it...

As far as finales go...this one was pretty good! Considering the crimes, it was easy to root for these flawed detectives, an hope they survive this ordeal. Nic Pizzolatto has struck gold with this series. Years from now we'll be arguing about the best season of "True Detective". I can't wait for next season!
