Open carry from Jan 1st 2016... Who's ready ?

That is a really good question. I saw huge 30.07 signs on the doors at the McDonalds on Bissonnett. Didn't go though the drive though. Seems like a good question for the lawyers. Originally Posted by nu2

We are 6 days into the New Year. Has anyone actually seen anybody open carry? I have not and I am up and about quite a lot.

However, if you'd like to argue the definition of the law with the officer who stops you for not concealing your handgun well enough, be my guest. Originally Posted by Wakeup

But you can assume I know nothing about shoulder holsters ... or concealed carry ... be my guest. I keep forgetting you are the "expert" on all matters posted.

If you know about shoulder holsters under your suit coat, then why did you post about your belt holster under your suit coat? I know you get hard showing us all your vast legal expertise, so expand your horizons a little, wow us with your shoulder holster under suit coats experience.

I can honestly use some other opinions. Even my tailored suit for my CCP bulges a little too much for my taste. What manufacturers do you recommend? Do you prefer belt attachment on the holster side to aid in clearing the weapon? Have you found one without belt attachment that supports well enough? What about adjustability? I find that the three I have all have a similar problem in that when I adjust them to the minimum dimensions, a bulge develops in the leather in between my shoulder blades. It can be pretty obvious if it's adjusted down that far. Do you prefer single or double shoulder models? What about retention? Do you prefer thumb leather, elastic over the grip or index finger leather?

Help me out buddy.

Man WU, you're complaining about a CCP being bulky when I rock a 4.5" and think that's borderline bulky. Me personally I prefer CC shirts like 5.11s.
I have no expertise on a shoulder rig under a suit, as I usually carry an airweight j-frame in an ankle rig when wearing a suit, however a suit is not my daily wear.

WU, I assume you've seen the CC shirts Fishpie is referencing, maybe your tailor could rig a snap button in one of your tailored shirts under your suit.. if wearing a tie nobody would notice? That way you could clear the shirt quickly, and have easy acceas to your firearm?

Sure, I wore a bunch of 5.11 in Iraq several years ago. The pouch is interesting, but after several washes, the Velcro is almost impossible to open quickly, and the weapon isn't secure inside the pouch, it moves around a lot. Too much for my taste. But a decent concept.

I don't have any problem when I'm wearing the CCP in the shoulder holster under my suit, or under a jacket. I don't wear it very often, only when I can't wear my IWB, or don't feel like it. I tried out three or four different holsters before I found one that had good retention, allowed a secure draw from the actual holster by having good belt attachment, and was slim enough that it didn't bulge too much that I thought I'd be imprinting bad enough to draw attention. Ended up with a Falco, and as I've said, apart from minor things, it's done pretty good.

Fish, it's a tailored suit. It fits my shape like a glove. Hard to conceal, so that's why the tailor let out the area above the waist inside the arms on both sides a bit, broadened the shoulders, and widened the back panel, all to help conceal the Walther better.

As far as your bespoke suit, man that's a tough one. I couldn't imagine carrying a shoulder rig in my tailored suits, or even having it tailored to fit?

Armani isn't quite bespoke, but nice nonetheless. I'm going to visit my wife this year, and I have an appointment at Huntsman and Sons. Now THAT will be true bespoke.

You can begin to see the troubles involved. I won't do it with the Huntsman, as I can't take my weapon to London for the fittings.
