I just got off the phone with my advisor at Edward Jones.Did you not make money in the stock market while Obama was in office? I did. The markets under Trump did very well in 2017. Sucked in 2018. The 9th worst 2nd year of 32 presidents.
Hell yeah, they love Trump over there. I'm a happy camper during this economy versus Obama. Make that ecstatic - yep, that's the right word! Originally Posted by Austin Ellen

But a rough 2018 dented Trump’s two-year performance, which for the S&P 500 left him with the 10th best percentage gain of 23 presidents, going back to Herbert Hoover, and the fifth best performance out of 11 Republican presidents, the data show."
Here is a link to a summary chart of the DJIA covering the Obama and Trump years. Obama had one negative year in 8 years. Trump one negative year in 2 years, the negative year being worse than Obama's negative year. In 4 of Obama's years in office the DJIA gains were double digits, the highest being 26.5% which beats Trump's 2017 DJIA gain.

And yes, so far 2019 is off to a very nice start. But 2018 did great until the end so don't hold your breath.
