Tell me about Gary Johnson. Why was he your favorite Presidential Candidate? I've never seen any of his adds. I've never seen him in a debate or in an interview. I've only seen his name on a ballot. Originally Posted by Levianon17

He had a very successful career as a small businessman, who grew it from a one man shop to a multimillion dollar company with over 1000 employees. He was a very effective and popular governor of New Mexico. He wasn't shy about using the veto to cut pork and wasteful spending.

His positions include balancing the budget, slashing government spending, getting out of foreign military involvements, and legalizing prostitution and marijuana. Contrary to what his critics say, he wouldn't cut out the social safety net, but he would shrink it and make it more efficient. In reality, if he'd been elected president, he probably never would have been able to shrink the net, but he certainly would have wielded his veto, like he did in New Mexico, to cut out the pork.

Btw, I am taking great joy in hijacking Dilbert's thread with Libertarianism and Gary Johnson. If memory serves me correctly he dislikes both. Sorry about that Dilbert. NOT. HAHAHAHAHA

In 2024 if he can enter the debates and establish a larger following it's a good chance he could win. It's just difficult for a third party candidate running for president to get anywhere without being in the debates. Although I voted for Donald Trump in 2016 and in 2020 I am ready for a Candidate that's more promising than he is in 2024 and certainly better than the idiot that just got elected.

2 things about them and johnson were deal killers.

1. they were open borders. they gave no thought about the economic consequences of unrestricted borders.
2. would likely have violated 1st amendment rights of religious people.

I'm with the Conservative party whom I closely identify more than the republican party.

Agreed DF.

I voted for Gary johnson in 2016.

Cannot agree with their 'open borders' policy, or suppression of legitimate religious groups.

marxism - although a 'religion' of teh DPST/.ccp party - does not count as a 'legitimate religious group"!
