In a way Wahlgfan is right. this place should fill up with banned posters and multi handled freaks.

I commend the mods for at least offering a means to make amends and opening a dialogue behind the scenes, it appears. Most don't seem to get that opportunity.

Hopefully, with a cooling off period, everyone can find some common ground and GP can return sooner rather than later.

make "amends" for what? inconsistant enforcement of some obscure "rules"?

That's not how he rolls.

Just speculation on my part though.
FYI, no one likes my reviews due to the lack of graphic detail thus I do not write them. Originally Posted by pyramider

What we have here, is failure to communicate........

I excerpted the above because I think it shows a big part of the problem. Yes, we are "amateurs." We don't get paid, we get no training, there are no hard guidelines or rules for us to follow. And we came from the general membership! But where else would we come from?

But don't you think it is really better that way? My favorite "old saying" is the one that goes "Be careful what you ask for because you might get it."

Not that I think you will EVER get paid / trained Mods. But if it did happen, you probably wouldn't like it. For one thing, GP would have probably been gone long ago. Permanently (well, we all know that nothing is really permanent - Hi GP!).

And none of us really want that. Whether you think his "sentence" was too severe or not, you cannot deny that he threw down a challenge that DD felt he could not ignore. He thinks he was making some kind of "point", but it was stupid.

When you have fellow members chosen as Mods from the ranks, you get people that know you, your history, your quirks. 90 percent of what we do is stuff you never see, and it is a real benefit for the site. And we cut members a LOT of breaks. We are all pretty reasonable guys, with no real agenda except pussy.

BTW, I don't think any of us "angled" our way into anything. I never asked for this, believe it or don't. And jymie is the only one who has been here for any length of time.

Do you think there is no learning curve here? That we are really supposed to be "Super Moderators" from Day One? Did you know how to do every part of your job on the day that you started it? Wait for it a bit. We have had some situations recently that are not typical of what goes on here. Tempers are up, WK's are everywhere. If things ever get back to what most of us would like to think is "normal" around here, I'll bet most of you will be pretty happy with the job we do. And as time goes by, we will be better able to handle the "abnormal" situations when they come up. You will have a solid "amateur" team that can really help you out when you need it. Not that I think we are that bad now!

If GP were here, he would rip me up for the paragraph above this. He has publicly stated that he thinks I and DD are not worthy.... and would probably use the above to reinforce his point. Yet all I am trying to do is to get people to consider that we are ALL too harsh on EVERYONE. I've got no problem with him coming back. But his persistent hostility towards the Mods undermines his objectivity. And, of course, his credibility. I fear he will never understand that.

I think this type of stuff is just bad for the community as a whole. The mods have better things to do then deal with this b.s. behind the scenes, and board members should have a right to voice their thoughts and opinions when within the rules of course without fear of punishment.

I'm a glass-half-full guy and hope there is some resolution soon, but WTF do I know?

The "challenge" part just seemed to be GP being GP , I thought it was more tounge in cheek per his persona as it really wasnt a personal attack persa, but again, its perception.
IDK,.....I see your points Rooster and mw ,..How bout the "ignore function",?.......seriously.?. it would be an intresting experiment, all the mods just put GP on "ignore",it may work. The rest of us will have to figure out how to co-exist ..and that way you guys wouldnt have to put in the extra work..but again , the mod position is "voluntary", Ive always hated it when Barrack HUSSEIN Obama asked to become POTUS and then constantly complains because its too much work.I suppose, I wish he would just step down instead of saying Bush created too many problems that he didnt realize where soo big..when he finishes out his second term it will STILL be all of Bushs fault.

There is definately a period of time that it takes to learn things here. When I first started the mod gig, I was too serious, over time I have learned to be more understanding about stuff. That comes with learning the different personalities. Recognizing when its appropriate to step in is a big part of it. You notice I am not jumping on many here, but I am here. If I have a problem with a post you made, most of the time you hear from me by PM about it, we discuss it and then we move on. A lot of things happen in the background that will always remain in the background, no body likes to be dragged on a public forum when its not necessary to do so. That would be like your boss scolding you in front of all your co workers, not very pleasant way to do things.
