Look how the line goes almost vertical at 2008.

Don't all spending bills come out of the House of Rep and Senate but not the executive?

Didn't the Dems take over both houses of congress in 2008?

Face it....Obama gambled our furture on his poorly thought out stimulus and it has fail.

I am ashamed that I bought into his "Hope" and "Change" BS and voted for him.

budgeted deficit*
gross domestic product vs. gross national product
method of computation (what is considered in each)

Also, in some years the debt owed to the social security "fund" by the U.S. government may not be factored in as part of the "budgeted" deficit.

.......And wasn't BO a member of the Senate at that time? Were there any spending bills that he didn't vote for?

I believe he was also a Senator when he made the statement which started this thread.

“The fact that we are here today to debate raising America 's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the US Government can not pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government's reckless fiscal policies. Increasing America 's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that, "the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem and a failure of leadership. Americans deserve better.”
-- Senator Barack H. Obama, March 2006

Yep......a .failure of leadership.

Americans do deserve better.
