Viagra advice requested from providers and the guys

Hey guys and gals,

I recently started taking a medicine that makes it hard, well, to get hard. And, maintain. (Fortunately I like dining at the "Y".) So, my doc gave me a prescription for 100 mg pills of Viagra and recommended taking half a pill, i.e., 50 mg.

I've read many of the posts with "Viagra" in the subject line on the board, but they don't quite tell me enough. My doctor has never prescribed it, I think. I would like real advice from people who have done it and from providers who have guys do it, so I know what to expect. (Also, just so you know a little about me: I'm a healthy slim male around 40 yrs (5'6" 130 lbs), but look younger. Love women of course.)

Here are some questions and thoughts:
1. The side effects sound kind of icky and a few, scary. How frequent are those side effects? Anyone experienced them? How severe?
2. The instructions say "Take at least 30 min before, but no more than 4 hrs (1 hr before is most effective)". This differs from what I've read on the board where people have said as little as 15 min, often 30 min, and some an hour. What should I really do?
3. Following up on #2. Are you hard for up to 4 hrs? That sounds like too much to me! What's the normal length of effect?
4. After you cum, are you still hard. If so, how long. Do you feel like still doing it after cumming? And, can you have another orgasm? Or, it sort of like waiting it out afterwards?
5. I know you're not doctors, but do you think I need 50 mg? Some places say 25 mg is enough. Most suggest 50. And, max is 100. I assume the dosage affects both severity and length of effect.
6. I assume I should tell the person whom I will see, whether it's a provider or a girl I'm sleeping with, right? I assume they'll be able to tell something's up and may have to deal with it (along with me). Experiences with this? Providers might have more comment on this than us guys.
7. This stuff is expensive! $50 for 6 pills. Thoughts on that? I thought of doing a trial run before doing it for real with someone, but I'm hesitant to do that at this cost. Good idea still to do the trial run?
8. Anything else I should know?

I'm hoping I get real responses with thorough answers to one or more questions. Sometimes people on this board just throw in a sentence or two and aren't really that helpful. Also, I'm hoping that I get a lot of responses to answer my questions and get a sense of how it works from a good segment of the population, rather than solely from one individual's experience. Different people respond to medicines differently.

Lastly, can you guys and gals respond quickly? I'm supposed to see a girl (22 yrs old) I'm having an affair with on Friday afternoon.

OK. Looking forward to your advice!

Nm,

Hey man, just stumbled onto this thread.

I use levitra now, I believe it has about the same mechinisms although, i am not doctor chemist or pharmacist, as viagra. Side effects I have had have just been sinus related. The whole tablet is too much as it gives me a pounding sinus headache. With the levitra, a 1/2 tablet 20 to 30 minutes ahead of playtime works fine, and lately I even found that a 1/4 tablet will also, and the sinus is even lessened. The number of pops I have, I have found depend on the lady I am blessed to be with. And the effects wear off within the 4 hours or so mostly. My boy will relax after pop one without further stimulation, but he is ready to stand tall again if needed :-) As far as telling your partner, I have told some and not others depends on the overall rapport I have with her.
Meds effect everyone differently. Just take them and hope the FDA approval works for you. And if an erection last more than 4 hours, go to the mall and show off. To hell with medical attention.

If you get yourself in good physical shape you will need alot less pharmacutical help. Running will increase the hearts ability to pump blood and in turn make a good hard- on alot easier to get and maintain. If your just starting out then walk at first then eventually start a slow run. This doesn't include people with medical issues that preclude getting an erection. Always see your doc b4 doing any exercise. I can tell you from experience as a 57 year old guy that since I started running as a daily exercise( 10 years now) I havn't had any erection issues at all and I did before. Ity's a whole lot cheaper than buying the blue pills.

RUN THEN GRAB HER BUN

If you have an erection for more than 4 hours call every girl you know and offer them free pony rides!!!

NM-Interesting that you posted this. I too have had these very same questions. I am 50 and now need the vitamin. I just got cialis and the Dr suggested i start by using half a pill. I'll be testing it out shortly. Good luck to you!
BTW, you might go to kwikmed.com. I found useful info there.

The biggest side effect I have noticed is sometimes guys can't cum at all, so I would take it 2 hours before an actual date. I had one guy take it around 30 min. before and it was a straight hour and a half of rock hard pain, with no end result. Told him I would never see him again business wise, but we are great friends now. He now takes a half a pill an hour before and does just fine, but he was just too large for me. The pill makes it harder than I would like...almost like wood!

I got some a few years ago when on meds that made it harder to get hard when i never had that problem before. Got 50 mg pills, cost about $5 each with the insurance discount. I cut them in half and it did work, takes about 20 mintues to kick in. I did notice it got me harder than normal when I did not use it. Also sinuses did get backed up a bit, it felt like I had a stuffy nose. After cumming, I did lose the erection like normal, have not tried for a round 2 as I generally am a one and done guy. Also call your doc and ask for samples, I got about 6 pills or so from his assistant to try them out first before I filled the script. The doctors usually have lots of samples if you ask for some. Good luck

Or ask your friendly Pharm Rep Provider to get ya some for free.
Ironic, I was just sending someone a pm on this very subject when i came to this thread.

Before you spring for the little blue pills, give this site a look:

http://www.boost-your-low-testosterone.com/index.html

It worked for me.

You have a fountain of youth between your legs (actualy two, lol). Put the boys to work!
Diet and exercise will help. Lose some weight, do some aerobic exercise (running, stair master, elliptical glider, bootcamp p90) and cut the fat out of your diet as best you can. I have noticed that V is less effective on a full stomach, especially after I have eaten a lot of fried food (fried catfish, shrimp and fries). I get the blue vision sometimes and flush in the face but no other syptoms. At times I have had trouble cuming....but I attribute that to not being too interested for some reason. And while V helps, the desire, moodl, etc. all has to be there too....

Also, V is also prescribed for new born premature babies to help their lungs develop as it is a vasal dialator and improves blood flow....so it's not just for helping men.

There is also a development drug for women to assist in their blood flow as well...

And some of the overseas products work well too and go for $2 per pill!

If you are the least bit concerned go to your opthamologist. Ask him/ her to look at your optic nerve disc to cup ratio. If it is tight then there is a chance that Viagra's effect on the circulatory system can cut off blood flow to the optic nerve, killing it. This is called NAION. It leaves you partially blind - the bottom half of your vision is lost. It is not fun. Look it up it is rare 1000 cases a year and occurs when a few things happen at one time. Viagra can be a catalyst -but only if you have a small disc, high cholesterol, blood pressure med, snore, and are in your 50s

Helpful. I get the exercise thing--good idea.. Won't be able to do that between today and tomorrow evening, however.

These are the answers I surmize to my questions:
1. So far, I've gotten the sense that noone has had the side effects, other than some mild sinus stuff. Lots of people warn about stuff they've just heard about.
2. On the time to take it beforehand varies by individual. But, I should just try between 30 and 1 hr, so perhaps 45 min.
3. I've researched it, including the pharmacutical's website and research reports. You're not hard for 4 hrs, unless you have stimulation.
4. After you cum, you can be hard, if you're being stimulated. Some people go for another orgasm. Others just feel one is enough.
5. Lost of people take 50 mgs. It's a good starting dose.
6. In terms of telling the girl. Variety of opinions, but mostly the summary is "no".
7. Cost. People think it could be cheaper, mostly using samples from doctors or using insurance. I used insurance. Still not cheap.
7b. Noone mentioned anything about the wisdom of a trial run w/o girl first.
8. In terms of adding information beyond my questions, people responded about exercises, testosterone treatment, etc.

Could have more detailed and longer reports on personal experiences, but I suppose this is what I'll get and I'll use the info I've collected here.

I hope that more people will add significant information and personal testimonies to this thread, rather than letting it petter out with my summary here.
It is possible, however, to ingest too low a level of dietary fat. Below ca. 15% of total calories daily will detrimentally impact hormonal function. You want to EMPHASIZE omega-3 fatty acids, which are found in fish oil and, to a lesser degree, flax seed and walnuts, and other beneficial fats. An ounce of almonds daily (approximately 25) will be beneficial to your cause because almonds are an extraordinarily rich source of arginine, an amino acid necessary for the production of nitric oxide, a short-lived compound that functions as a vasodilator and thus is essential for the erectile process. Cocoa polyphenols function similarly in stimulating nitric oxide production and are one of the few compounds known to significantly improve beneficial HDL levels. Pomegranate juice and/or extract could also be a valuable ally to your cause. In an Israeli clinical study of patients at high risk for stroke due to carotid artery stenosis, the addition of pomegranate juice to an existing regimen of statin drugs actually REDUCED plaque deposits to such a degree that it produced a measurable reduction in blood pressure.
