It's "basically legal". My knowledge may be a bit old on this, but here's how it worked when I lived in BC.

Outcalls are fine as long as you schedule them in "private communication". As in, not a public place. For the purpose of prostitution, you car is consider a public place. So SW are illegal to contract.

It is also illegal to get a hotel room for the sole purpose of pay for play. Incalls are completely illegal, as it's considered "running a bawdy house" whether 1 girl or 20 work out of it. It's fine if you're already in your hotel, and decide on some P4P. I'm fairly certain it's legal to call from your home and have them come over as well.

You call a girl, say "I want a BJ for 150" on the phone, she comes to you and gives you said BJ for 150. This is legal!

You call her and go to her place? Not legal.

That being said, no one...really cares about escorts. Except in places where there's licensing as if the gov't isn't getting their money, they'll go after you for it. The LE enforcement is harsher some places than others - I can think of providers that had issues in Winnipeg and Edmonton but other than that, LE leaves you alone if you're not stupid.

What I think the article is talking about is removing the wording about "brothels" from the law, meaning incalls may very well be (or become) legal.

Potentially very nice for our friends to the North, I do not think this will ever happen in US. It is a State's rights issue and at least in Texas, tighter law enforcement and anti-women's legislation is taking root...

We need to get a governor of Texas like Missy

Incalls are illegal. Soliciting is illegal. Basically everything around it is illegal but actual act isn't.
Depends where you are... The cops leave you alone for the most part. The only time I can see them conducting an investigation to bust an incall is if they suspect something black market related or under age.
There's certain cities that enforce the law more than others.

Yep! As long as the hotel room wasn't rented for the sole purpose of the outcall. As Shayla said though, some cities care more than others so just check the local hobbying scene on the appropriate local forum before visiting. Most of the legal risks are for the providers though (licensing laws, running an incall) as opposed to the hobbyist. You would have to do something incredibly stupid to get arrested whilst trying to book/see an escort in Canada.
