I know that there will always be a small % of the population that are simply evil.

However, it was more disappointing to see the hateful comments at the end of the article.

DETROIT (WXYZ) - For him it’s just a matter of looking at the dictionary.

This is all focused primarily on the east side so far. This is a man who heard the Detroit police chief who was cautious not to label the deaths of the women as the work of a serial killer.

This man feels that the dictionary would have given the chief enough license to use those words.

Frank Nemecek says “Well, a serial killer is defined by the dictionary as somebody who kills two or more people in two or more incidents. “

Nemecek is a blogger and publisher of the Warrendale (Detroit) blog, where he and the folks who live in their far west Detroit community just this side of Dearborn can express concerns about the city.

It doesn't matter, he says, that the bodies of four women were dumped on Detroit's east side, far from his neighborhood.

“Serial killers don't always respect lines on a map,” Nemecek says. ”Anytime you've got a serial killer on the loose, that's something of a concern. “

Chief Ralph Godbee made it clear Monday he doesn't want to label the deaths a serial killing. Yes, the first two bodies were left in the trunk of a car and just days later, a few blocks north, a similar scene. Only this one saw the vehicle on fire.

Important distinctions with one critical link- three of the four women had posted themselves as escorts on backpage.com.

“As long as we have more than -- two or more bodies and two or more incidents which the evidence seems to suggest, it is by definition a serial killer,” says Nemecek. “Now, is this another Jack the Ripper or anything like that? That's going a little bit too far to say. But it's pretty obvious from the information that's out there that we do have a serial killer of some variety or another that's out there. If you look through the history of serial killers, they may start with one particular kind of person but then if the escorts stop showing up, they may migrate to something else.”

Nemecek adds what’s important at this stage is that more people who consider looking to the web for friendship or companionship may think twice for now.

“This will be a wake-up call, if you will,” he says. “Everyone should take things more carefully than they would. If I were one of the women on that website I certainly wouldn't want to be answering any calls of somebody I didn't already know.

Detroit Police say there are no new leads in the investigations of the murders of these four women, at least not that they're talking about.

They are still waiting for test results and hoping that people will call homicide investigators with important information.
thanks for the reminder to screen, use reviews, referrals, and other security measures.

Gotta keep in mind that many times the outlandish comments are said to merely get a rise out of people, though there are a few who actually believe the bullshit they say.

It pisses me the fuck off to read about shit like this.

Take care of youselves out here, ladies.
This certainly is a tragic story. Now ya'all know why the Police set up stings to deterr prostitution and those who patronize them.

I hear you on that, but murder is murder, and it's a crime completely on its own entity.

Because of the nature of escorting they are very inviting and accomodating. To a client with violent nature escorts are an easy target.

Someone in Michigan called to tell me that in the Detroit Free Press yesterday that said that they have mentioned EROS, CITYVIBE, MYREDBOOK, ADULTSEARCH and more in regard to the murders. Here is an article I found on the paper's web site today, but not sure if either of this is the article I was told about.

Nearly two dozen websites that include ads for escorts are linked to the investigation into the deaths of four women whose bodies were found in car trunks in Detroit this month, according to Backpage.com, the classified advertising website first named in the investigation.

Of the four women, three were connected to escort ads on Backpage.com, police have said.

On Thursday, an attorney for the website released a statement saying it has provided police with detailed information about at least 70 different escort ads appearing on 22 other websites. The statement did not specify how many of the victims were believed to be involved in those other ads.

"We are not aware of any evidence that would indicate which of these 22 websites may have been used by the suspect to establish contact with his victims," Backpage.com attorney Steve Suskin wrote in the statement.

Police would not confirm anything in the Backpage.com statement Thursday.

"As with any investigation of this magnitude, as a matter of protocol, we will not discuss the quantity nor the quality of evidence we have obtained," Police Chief Ralph Godbee Jr. said in a statement. "We welcome, obviously, the information provided to us by Backpage.com. However, the value of the information obtained will be weighed in relation to this case, as is any tip provided to our homicide investigators."

Phoenix-based Backpage.com did not disclose any details about the ads, but listed which websites they appeared on. The Free Press is not naming those sites.
