Colorado Here I Come To Have Some Fun!

I am so happy! I hear it is really nice there with the mountains and all. Does anyone have some good ideas on what to do or see while I am there? I am flying into Denver today and will be spending a week in Colorado Springs. Can't wait to play in the snow!!!! ........TIFFY
By all means, visit the Garden of the Gods. Once you have had time to acclimate to the altitude, take the Pikes Peak Cog Railroad. Needless to say, dress very warmly. This time of the year, it does not go all the way to the summit (see http://www.cograilway.com/ratestimes.htm#rates0 ) but you will still get a fantastic view from 12,000 ft. If you have time for one evening in Denver and want to try something both distinctly Western and truly exotic for dinner, try the Buckhorn Exchange.

Thank you so much for the guidance. It is greatly appreciated.
If you ever want to see Colorado at its very best, and actually have the opportunity to do so, head for the high country during the last week of September and first week of October. The Rockies, in the fall, are quite simply unrivaled in terms of their beauty. More specifically, the San Juan Range, near Telluride, Ouray, and Ridgway, are high, wild and rugged. The Maroon Bells, near Aspen, are another must-see attraction and, arguably, the single most frequently photographed vista in all of Colorado.

I have a cabin in Grand Lake right next to the Rocky Mountain National Park that I usually spend a month at every winter about this time. Had I known you were going we might have been able to work out an arrangement. I don't really trust the house sitter I have there.

But, living in the wild with a fireplace to keep you warm at night is one of the few things I enjoy anymore ( other than the company of a woman )

Looks like I won't get up there till spring this year and I'll miss being snowed in for days at a time.

They usually block off the roads into the park in winter, but Grand Lake is a perfect little small town to get lost in.
