Welcome to Houston! There so many amazing places to sample…here are a few of my favorites.

Texmex/Latin cuisine: Gloria’s or Urbe
Steak: Capital Grille or Papas Bros Steakhouse
Burger: Burger Joint
Pizza: Gypsy Poet
Diner Style: Adair Kitchen
Middle East cuisine: Craft Pita

Asian. Go to Chinatown at bellaire and beltway 8, as good as London or NY. Start with Mein, or original Mala for Sichuan.

Little Korea. Gessner north of i10.

Little India. Hillcroft and 69 and along 69 to gessner. Incredible food.

Bbq. Truth, blood bros, killens, pit room, Pinkerton, gaitlin.

Seafood…lots. But good oysters at liberty, pappadeaux, goode cow seafood

Vietnamese. Everywhere.

Mexican…I lean to Oaxaca cuisine instead of Tex Mex, harder to find.


All the new ethicfood and new bbq sets houston apart….

Taste of Nigeria on Fountain view and Richmond has good Nigerian food and they also serve oxtails in a nice red sauce, with joloff rice and all of the other entities. There is a small bar there. There is also a African spot on Bissonet. If it comes to mind I'll revisit this thread and let you know. Mikkis has the best value for soul food, oxtails. Just pack some patience because unless you go at certain times the lines are ferocious
