ECCIE spam redirection makes my blood boil.

You know, I tried to shrug it off before I became a *paid* member. But this is just really offensive:

1. Come into ECCIE and go to my city.
2. Open up maybe 5-10 threads that look interesting.
3. Starting going through those 5-10...
4. Find out that as much as HALF of the tabs never even went to the thread at all, but instead redirected me to spam: "http://www.hookupdatingsitereviews.co m/en/2/?voluumdata=vid..00000004-e444-4b29-8000-000000000000__vpid..da132000-7aa0-11e4-81d3-fc795975a418__caid..f311ff14-b3f3-46fe-bf3c-bd3526f10af5__lid..f7f076ef-a805-4245-a1a8-d097965b0f61__rt..R__oid1..7d3 ead29-c7e5-4a0e-98c9-c2292c557b2a__oid2..267a5889-86b9-4f4b-80dc-1ff3b3369a2e__oid3..74283c5e-5aae-42b5-8237-aa16bde0e23b__oid4..1328cfe0-b62a-4bee-8e8d-983838a234ab__oid5..76ba49dc-f642-4a6f-80cf-ee0da60a7eeb__oid6..c7ce5c97-eadb-4fa1-8f3b-f4c1dffc7ed5__oid7..45690eba-a1a9-4bac-9963-3c8dc2522145__oid8..37e3645c-8044-41ce-b04e-a64c33a1de2e__oid9..b02fdcaf-c93e-4417-93a5-e186c1373b1a__oid10..d64bf312-b264-462a-aa49-e6d760c7862e"

5. I can't hit the back button on these tabs, because it didn't even let the content load and THEN redirect me. It just never allowed me to get the content at all. Basically, I'm blocked from about half the content on the site.
6. No idea what WOULD have been in those tabs if I wasn't spam attacked. So basically have to give up, I'll never know what threads I missed. Infuriating.
7. RAGE. POUND MY FIST. HATE.

8... and you know what really takes the cake and made me come complain? A page just malfunctioned on me such that I couldn't click any link on it - every single one - 100% would redirect to that ad. So finally I had to close the tab utterly and type in eccie.net and start over.

It appears your computer or device has become infected with malicious code.

The following are all good free tools for keeping the computer clean and free of malicious code as well as other nasty stuff.

CCleaner

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Revo Uninstaller

Avast! Antivirus

Zone Alarm Firewall

These are what I have been using for years. With these tools I have never had any malicious code cripple or otherwise have any effect on my Windows system. Also, the database updates for Avast! and Malwarebytes are free as well.
I appreciate the concern, but this wasn't the response I expected at all heh. Are you telling me you never once had a dating pop-up from Eccie?

Ever? Because I've seen this on both my Mac and PC at random intervals here, I assumed it was programmed that way intentionally to advertise at random, but to come up as a pop-up window and not interfere with browsing.

However, since I'm part of the 1% of users who insists on using the tab functionality of my browser, I get screwed because it wasn't debugged for that situation and instead of trigger a pop-up it triggers the advertisement content to be the ONLY thing shown on the new tab.
I use Chrome. I open to tabs instead of windows, including pop-ups. I use Ad Blocker Plus and do not have pop-up problems with this site. I also use Opendns, which might help with some of the ad sites. The Forum/Threads I choose to open...open.

If it's not malware, you might need a good ad/pop-up blocker or your browser is mis-configured (for this site).

I understand exactly what you are talking about and it is not "malicious code". I experience this when using Chrome on my mobile device since it opens all links in a new tab. When it is an ad, the ad displays in the new tab instead of the page I am trying to view and when I try to back out it closes the tab so there is no way I can browse ECCIE with it. I don't change the settings since I like using the new tab feature, so I just don't use Chrome with ECCIE on my mobile device and don't use tabs on my desktop. I am just used to clicking on the link, closing the popup and continuing on. It sucks, but it is what it is.

On a side note, I notice that the ads come in waves and some days I can get through with no ads at all and some days I just give up. This also goes for the speed of loading pages. Some days it is so painful that I give up and others it is fast as hell. This is the price you pay when you are dealing with a site that is free for most of the people using it. I get it and don't have an issue since I am on here for free, but if I was paying for it I would be pissed off also.

Note: To all the wannabe IT Guru's out there, all my computers and devices are working perfectly fine and I have Google Fiber so it is not my computer or ISP so don't bother trying to diagnose my computer or internet as the problem. Thank you.

To answer your question...

No, not in the past two years. I have been using multiple tabs on Firefox every time I am logged into ECCIE.
Anyone find something that works on iPhone 4s 8.1.1 IOS?
It's annoying and waste my data plan.

I used to look for a way to fight it but have found that when the popup opens in a new window that by just minimizing it I never see another one during the session. If I DELETE/close that ad window I definitely see anther one some time later..... From the way the OP is describing the problem I would venture a guess that he has some other problem in play.
I'll give that a shot.

It is not malicious code or a virus. It is eccie. I have issues with eccie on Any and every device i use. It is SOOOOO annoying. We already are cluttered with so many ads all over the page we dont need to be forced to websites too. And its not even like its once. Its every other click

I just assume its greed. More redirects to these spam sites equals more money to this site
Could be wrong but i doubt it

Either way its super annoying and i hope they get it together
Thanks for posting OP
For those using Android devices with Chrome, are you accessing the full site or the mobile version? I have tried both and have never had an ad pop up with the mobile version, however with the full site it seems like every other click... Just a thought. The mobile version is a little more basic, but pretty much everything is there and I find it much easier to navigate as well...
Tried leaving it open and continuing, still get the pop ups!
Hate the mobile version can't zoom, so can't read it.
Block the ads and you'll block most of the redirection, I suspect. You might have to block porn, in general, and whitelist sites you want to see.

Good luck.

There are ads all over ECCIE and I paid 1 year anyway, whatever, no biggie, it's just that this particular one is extremely hateful because it causes big problems for those of us who are exclusively tabbed browsing users. I was basically trying to request that ECCIE reprogram it to at least not make the lives of us tab users hell.

If that suggestion won't be accepted, then there's nothing I can do except prefer other sites when possible. Okay. Have a nice day.
