What happened to the Green New Deal?

All the top Democratic presidential candidates support the Green New Deal. And they're all chartering private jets when they could take commercial flights --

Do these people really believe the extreme measures they're proposing? But since they're political elites they shouldn't apply to them?

Or are they just pandering to win the Democratic nomination for president?

Those of us who live in Texas, Louisiana, and Oklahoma should hope it's the later, as they all say they want to put the USA oil and gas industry out of business.

You mention 3 of the more well known oil and gas producing states but since fracking started states like Penn. and Ohio, two swing/ important electoral states with Penn. having in the neighborhood of 400,000 jobs related to fracking. Joe Biden was asked in a recent debate if he was willing to do away with hundreds of thousands of jobs in order to institute the Green New deal and he said YES. I don't know how well that will play in Penn. or Ohio or West Virginia.

The U.S. fracking revolution has caused natural gas prices to drop 47 percent compared to what the price would have been prior to the fracking revolution in 2013.

Gas bills have dropped $13 billion per year from 2007 to 2013 as a result of increased fracking, which adds up to $200 per year for gas-consuming households. Moreover, all types of energy consumers, including commercial, industrial, and electric power consumers, saw economic gains totaling $74 billion per year from increased fracking.

And many if not all the Democrat candidates say they will push federal bills to ban all fracking costing consumers and jobs.
It's a scam. The Dims are selling a socialist pipedream to their low information voters with the intention of keeping them on the plantation.

Cake for me and not for thee.

Previously Presidents had to worry about ME oil and how that region could influence oil prices and thus elections in this country. Ni more.

The main reason OAC and the rest of her followers have shut up about the whole green thing is simple. Somebody finally told them that the first order of business is to get elected. Then you can spring all of your socialistic ideas on the electorate.

Fossil fuel energy is not going anywhere anytime soon. The alternatives simply do not produce enough power to satisfy the needs of a modern society.

We now have plentiful supplies and the infrastructure in place for energy dominance but the Green New Deal lefties wish to destroy the fossil fuel industry. For that ill advised effort, they should be voted out of office.

Actually Obama took credit for the increase in USA oil and gas production engendered by fracking too. Which is fine in my book, whether it was true or not. It shows he had some appreciation for the industry. Unfortunately the Democratic Party is a far cry now from what it was then, in terms of its hostility towards American oil and gas producers.

In general, I give Trump a lot of credit for reducing the regulatory burden on business. In oil and gas drilling and production though he might have undone some of Obama's changes that were for the better. Specifically Obama had rules that applied only to federal land, to try to ensure integrity of casing, absence methane leaks, and disclosure of frac chemicals. That makes sense IMHO. Sanders and Warren on the other hand would shut off fracking on federal lands, stop issuing federal leases, and try to ban fracking on private lands in their first terms. And they probably could do whatever they want on fed lands regardless of Congress' wishes.

WTF argues for balance, which makes sense. If the industry shows it's responsible, it's more likely it won't have problems in continuing to produce oil and gas here in the USA. And you need some regulations or the bad players in the industry will fuck that up.

However, WTF, as to your belief that oil pipelines shouldn't be built from Canada, I totally don't get that. You can have Canadian producers ship their oil to the USA, where it will be refined and consumed here and exported. Or you can have them ship it across western Canada to China and Asian countries. It's best for our economy and our energy security to have the oil come through the USA.
