Ability to seach PMs?

With the new storage capacity for personal messages, some of us (let's face it; we providers ) have a lot of stuff stuffing our boxes before we get stuffed.

It becomes more than a wee bit impractical to weed through the many communications when a kind member we chatted with months ago now has the opportunity to play and contacts us, expecting us to remember all of the details. Not that every gentleman isn't equally important, but we may need a reminder of our past conversation if it has been a while. A lot of typing has gone by.

Or, a fellow messages us, and after viewing the many alerts about him, or after he's just too, too, too SOMETHING that waves big red flags and puts us off, we decide not to see him. He waits a few months and tries again. We know that handle looks familiar, so we scroll and scroll and scroll...

Any way ECCIE programmers could insert a search feature in our personal messages, just like we have in threads? It would be very useful for the ladies, indeed. I know that I would be quite grateful.
My pm bow is full. How do delete or empty. It?.....jim

Fancy, the only way I've discovered to do a global search of pm's is to store all of your pm's off site. You can download periodically as I do, saving downloads in a text file using notepad. Or any other storage format. Whether you keep those in laptop or somewhere in the cloud is your choice.

Then you may search by a single search term, usually by handle is my choice, and all files with that mention will pop.

You may also consider adding to your folders to help separate and store messages more selectively. And you can periodically download by single folder to reduce external storage needs.

to delete or save messages....

Simply click the box at the far right of each message listed.

Then scroll to bottom of list and hit delete or move to another file.

If you don't have premium access or verified provider status your pm capacity is 50 total.

I appreciate it, ck, but I wasn't looking to make records anywhere. Just wanted to keep it all on ECCIE, and not sure I want to expend extra effort on separate files and sorting. Thank you with a kiss, however.

Seems to me that if we can search threads, we ought to be able to search our mailboxes. I'm being wishfully lazy, I guess.

Hi Fancy... you can sort the PMs alphabetically by handle and also reduce volume a bit by selecting the sent/received mails. I think the alphabetical sort by sender would be the best option for you.

...and IMHO, I do think that a better sort/search feature would be helpful....

AND I wish that there would be a geographic subdivide of Houston by area.... that would make searching for a provider in a nearby or convenient area so much nicer. hotel.com and other sites use a geographic sort... maybe just add a zip code?

The Houston Newbie-Friendly Provider List at least indicates in what area of town each provider offers incall.

I'll be danged! I didn't know you could sort PMs alpha by handle. Wasn't sure how that worked, so hit the "Sender" line in my private messages, and viola! That WILL help. Thank you, Skittlez! (And to return to normal again with most recent message first, just hit "Inbox" and it goes back.)

It does pay to ask questions.

We are looking into the feasibility of implementing this. It would certainly be a useful tool for many of us.
