Why Is Harry Reid Stonewalling Obama's Fiscal Cliff Plan?

McConnell wants to vote on it, but Reid won't allow it. I thought the Republicans were the obstructionists, but McConnell is ok with a vote, either as an amendment to a trade bill, or as a stand-alone bill. But Harry Reid is not allowing the President's plan to move forward. Why is that? The Democrats have the majority in the Senate, so if McConnell agrees to a vote, wouldn't the Dems be sure of winning? Why is Reid being obstructionist?

This is absolutely ridiculous. This Fiscal Cliff fiasco shouldn't even be happening. Not only do we have a milestone, but no one is getting along to make any progress. Nothing any of us can do about it of course. What this political Vaudeville show needs is a wakeup call. They won't be happy till tragedy strikes.

Where are Reid's defenders? I'm surprised.

The Democrat want January 1st to come without a tax agreement. They want the Bush tax cuts to expire (the so called fiscal cliff).

Then the Democrats can immediately bring up for vote a restoration of the expired middle class tax rates and leave the higher rates on the upper earners in effect !

Going over the fiscal cliff is a win - win for the Democrats (so they think).
