What type of site do you prefer?

Hola everyone!

So I have a bit of dilemma, and your help will be *much* appreciated!!!
Since our showcase can not contain rates, services, etc...im wondering what is the best way to get that message out to folks.

When I started, I signed up for one of those "free sites".
As I became more established, I had a professional site created.
I never figured out to update it, and it wasnt "phone friendly".

So I went back to my free site, which is very easy to manage. However, the blog cant be updated from my phone. And its rare im on my computer

So im thinking of trying a blog next! Like blogger, blogspot, etc...however, a blog (I doubt) will have an "about me", "pics", "etiquette", etc pages. Itll just be a continuation of my thoughts and random specials.

What is everyones thoughts on this?
Should I just stick with the traditional site?

Oh, ps: I WILL have my blog updated by later on today. Yesterday my comp crashed while trying to do so lol, I dont have the best of luck in regards to technology

I don't need all those bells and whistles on a site. A few pictures, basic info, rates..... that combined with your great reputation is more than enough!

You mentioned you maintain your own site, which leaves you in control. That is safer for you in my opinion.

As for the blog, I do read provider blogs.

Big Topic. I'll try to be brief. My best advice to you would be to look around and see what Provider has a personal site that you like. (Then maybe try to hire the same site builder they did)

Personally, all I am looking for are rates and maybe pics. I don't even care how often it's updated as long as it is accurate. I get 98% of what I need from eccie anyway and just use external sites as auxilary. I don't care if it's built with a free builder tool or Flash-glamorous pro. All I care about is ease of use. (Of course, looks do impress)

However, if you travel, it becomes MUCH more important because many regions don't use eccie. In that sense, it becomes a "cover all bases" tool for you. So whether you are posting on Redbook, BP, eccie, or wherever, you have a single place to post rates and important info that you can just reference without having to re-type.

What all the sites below have in common is EASE OF ACCESS. All the major topics are right in front of you (Tabs). And they are all ONE click away.
That is the key to success (for a viewer).

Here are some classic, pro sites:
http://safiresweet.wix.com/safire-sweet
http://www.vipebonyescort.com/#!about-me

Free site builder?
http://gabriellasantos.weebly.com/

As far as ease of updatability for you - that's impossible to tell without contacting the site vendor. But regardless, they can all build the classic "tab style" site that is easy on the viewer.

Good Luck!! It can definitely be overwhelming.

I agree with the first gent "ready4fun45", especially if you are as well of a provider that you are, here with us is all you need!

A blogger site is fine, something YOU could update easily would be the best thing.
there are alternatives available and some without cost....

I started changing the "www" into a "m" to look at the rates posted...although I don't know if the Providers still have access to the "Service and Availability" section of the showcase to keep it updated...

PS: there is always www.ourhome2.net
Thanks for the feedback.
I think I put waaay too much thought into it. Lol

Interesting choice for a good simple example. Although I agree with you on the things you brought up, the are other things that are a hindrance. The links to the other pages are in a dark blue on a dark grey or black background, making them difficult to make out. The background images on most of the pages load slowly. Not good on the slower type of Internet connections. Also, this site looks like it uses Flash which will not work on iPads.

Here is an example of a web page that has no such hindrances...

It does not get much simpler than that.

By the way, MsPrittiKitti, not trying to convert you to Apple, I promise , but just wanted to mention your current site works fine on both my iPad and iPhone. I bet you could update it one the fly, even update a pic on the fly.

You have to ask yourself if you really need a laptop nowadays. I'm sure other tablets could do the same.
