all these union demonstrations and marches and protests are really against the american people and the beleaguered taxpayer. it is YOU who is at fault, You who is being harrassed, You who they wish to enslave.

the June 5th date may go down in freedom annals as did June Teenth.

you guys need to check back in history,before unions and see what working conditions were like then. Yes some of them gained too much power.

You're exactly right. There are all sorts of abuses in private sector unions, but public sector unions are far worse. The public sector unions collect dues, against the will of the members, and give essentially all the money to Democrat politicians, and in return, receive raises in pay and benefits. It's a complete conflict of interests. The unions and the Democrat politicians benefit from the arrangement and the tax payers get screwed. The arrangement results in Democrat politicians being allowed to finance their campains with tax payer money.

Imagine if the UAW gave their union dues directly to the board members of GM. It would be in the best interest of the board members to raise union pay and benefits because that would enable the union to give them even more money in contributions. The union would benefit; the board members would benefit and the shareholders would get screwed.

FDR is, of course, one of the most iconic figures in the history of progressivism. As everyone knows, he strongly championed private sector unions.

But for the very reasons listed above, he staunchy opposed the idea of public sector unionization.

It should now be obvious to everyone that he was right. If you think the current situation in Wisconsin is bad, just take a look at the dire fiscal outlook for California (and a number of its cities).
