From Wall Street Journal:

Democratic vice presidential pick Tim Kaine, now a U.S. senator from Virginia, can make a rare claim among governors who served during the Great Recession: His state never stopped growing.

I think Hillary was in a box..torn, as it were, between needing to select someone who would appeal to at least the middle of the roaders and maybe secure the state of Virginia as well, or turning left to try to appease the dimocrat base

in the end i think she decided that with her baggage she had to take the chance that the dimocrats have no where to turn but to her and she had to try to get something out of the middle

They truly seem to admire and respect one other and this will make a good impression during the democratic convention. I'm sure they will work together well as a team. Kaine's excellent economic success during the recession in Virginia is a subject they can both address during the democratic convention. They are both well qualified candidates and much more suited to run the White House in my opinion.
