Security and using company wi-fi?

A few years back I worked for a company that had a network with company computers that employees had to login to use. I never used those computers to visit any "vice crimes" related sites or even simple porn, knowing that in all likelihood my every websearch was being logged. I only used company computers to search weather or news sites for some activity over lunch hour.

I now work for a company that has wi-fi signal broadcast from the building, I simply provide the password to get to use the wi-fi signal. I use Nord VPN and Protonmail extensively and wherever possible. My question is about whether it is still possible for my company to know my websearches and sites visited given that I am using their broadcast wi-fi signal? Is there something on their computer to track who is seeing what using their wi-fi?

And that also goes for public wi-fi, there have been instances where Nord "times out" and I cannot connect to VPN using that public wi-fi, are there ways to track web usage through these public venues? I understand VPN helps a lot but there are circumstances where I cannot use this encryption tool.

Could use some answers to these questions....Thanks!

Yoyoma....Old workplace was a definite no-no for sexploration, been fairly careful at the new place...doubt I would lose my job but more a concern if I was outed as a player in the scene...

Network infrastructure is unknown to me but owner/managers are not techies but I still tread lightly there.

Have always wondered how good NORD and Protonmail really are as to encrypting browsing and emails and providing nothing to see but scrambled jibberish.
It's just sound advice to never shit where you eat. I'm amazed at the number of wives who are busting their ignorant husbands for messing around by their own carelessness. I've never been busted by anyone.
If you can't connect to VPN, the network admin can see whatever you're connecting to: STG, EB, Tryst, PD, EM, TER, ECCIE, TNA

This is true of your cell phone 4G signal as well. Haven't you read anything about Edward Snowden?

lol.

Kim is correct.
Almost all internal business networks are easily monitored. If not by IT staff. By an IT contractor. Granted they are watching for inbound hacks and virus, but why would you want anyone, even a contractor, to have a smile about what you connect to. Bored folks tell stories about what they smile about. Even if its a connect to a vpn.

Some companies have internal Wi-Fi for company issued phones, laptops, etc. This wi-fi network has the same capabilities as your wired network. It will go through the same firewall, so anything you do on your company issued desktop or laptop and are able to connect with your personal iPad or iPhone WILL be logged and tracked.

Some companies also offer a "guest" wi-fi so salespeople, contractors, consultants, even employees personal devices, etc. can connect to the internet. This too is tracked and again, ANYTHING you do on that network will be watched. Even if the guest network allows you to go places your company network won't. Simple example is yahoo or gmail mail. Most companies won't let you access your personal email from your work issued computer while on the company network. But you can access it on your guest network. Why? so that sales, guests, etc. can get to their pitch/sales decks, etc.

Just remember though, just because it has less restrictions, doesn't mean that you're not being tracked or logged. While the likelihood that someone from IT security or HR will come to your office while your surfing www.ilovetoeatass.com while you've got your pants down and jacking off and tap you on the shoulder to walk you out is slim, they will run reports. One-off visits that you are only on for a second or 2 won't cause any problems and can be explained away. hours spent there a day is another story and cause for dismissal.

How to safely surf porn at work? Get an iPad with its own LTE connection. Before I worked for myself and had my own company, my work issued laptop & phone was strictly business and nothing was on it. But when I was at work and I wanted to check what was going on with ECCIE, I'd use my LTE enabled iPad with the wi-fi turned off.

Now with me owning the company, quite frankly I do the same thing. I use my company equipment strictly for business and my personal laptop/iPad for coming here to ECCIE or anywhere else I want to surf.

I hate having 2 devices, but it's the safest way to keep your private stuff private. Companies can't (or shouldn't) be able to confiscate your personal devices unless you signed an agreement with them allowing them to do that, which a lot will do if you let them put work email on your personal device. So keep the devices separate and don't go anywhere you shouldn't be going on company equipment or company provided wi-fi (whether its guest wi-fi or not).

Seriously, the IT guys in Security will watch the logs and not only laugh at who goes where, but some of them even collect the sites you visit just so they'll know where the best porn sites are.

So the next time you're walking down the hall and the IT security/network guy smiles at you, he's smiling at you because he knows you went to www.ilikeitwhenmidgethorsesshitinmymouth.com
I like the thought of the Ipad and the LTE connection...

If I'm using NORD VPN and Protonmail can anybody else see what I'm looking at or track websites? If it's being encrypted and scrambled from my non-company network linked personal laptop then all they should be able to see is jibberish?
