Hey y'all,

I'll be in Kansas City for work in a couple of weeks and I want to spend a least a couple of nights gambling. What are the best casinos in the area? Bonus points if they have good restaurants/bars attached.

Harrah's or Argosy

Harrah's usually has a decent poker table or two running, if you're very, very good.
All have blackjack, slots, roulette, baccarat and craps.
You can use your Caesars card at Harrah's.

Sounds like it'll be Harrah's for me.
Thanks for the recs, everyone!
I was in Kansas City a few months ago for work and ended up checking out a couple of casinos. The Ameristar was a solid choice—it had a great selection of games, and the food options were pretty awesome too. I ended up at a steakhouse inside, and it really hit the spot after a few rounds of blackjack.

Man I'm getting old.......seems like just a few years ago that casinos opened here, and it's been about 30 years ago. Time flies.

Closed: Sam's Town

Bally's (Twin River) is 4th owner of Isle of Capri

I (and numerous others in the hotel industry) have never understand why Sam's and also Bally's, did not have hotels included in their original layouts.

Ameristar is also on it's fourth owner - to far to the east and on north side of river.

I still stand by my above post, of Harrah's and Argosy.

There's a lot of disposable income in JoCo and (excluding Hollywood in KCK) only Harrah's and Argosy have acceptable driving distance (with hotels) to JoCo. Argosy is also quite handy to Airport row.

It’s pretty funny how casino business happens. Ameristar is now run by Boyd Gaming, so it’s basically another Sam’s Town. That place used to be packed the first few years it was open, but from what I’ve heard lately it’s a dump now. Worked some long hours in the casino business, it’s cutthroat and all they care about is taking money.

I would say Harrah's I seem to have lost all my money upstairs. Lol

what are the losing plays upstairs there? Need to know what to avoid, if I go. LOL!

Poker.
Unless you are very good, and I mean very very good, the other players there would enjoy teaching you the game. The guys that know each other spread themselves out over the tables so they don't play each other until close to quitting time.

On occasion there's a TV show in production.

I don't play the 7 card games though.

Hmmm? 7 card stud? Doesn't texas holdem use 7 cards also? What other games do they have?
