YR if you are thinking of living in exile I would recommend Pattaya, Thailand.

My mother's family all came from there in the first decade of previous century.

One of my East Coast cousie (Hamptons no less) is trying to get Italian citizenship for the health plan!

Apparently, if your family heritage has enough Italian in your bloodline, then you can qualify for citizenship as an Italian.
