English Tea Party places second in election

JD Barleycorn's Avatar
For the second time the English version of the Tea Party came in second behind the Labour Party. Not bad for a party that didn't exist six years ago. They even beat the conservative party. English elections are strange. There was only a three day campaign which benefits the incumbents (labour) who already have their people in place.

In the US the Tea Party has won elections over both democrats (progressive-socialists) and republicans.

Running second is like a win?

Ironic that the British have a Tea Party

??? No, why bother trying to explain the importance of that in a system like England. You would never understand.

When the people stop accepting the status quo and believe they deserve better representation then it is good. In the US that belief is embodied in the Tea Party movement. It is not the first time. H. Ross Perot tapped into the same feeling but he was a fraud. His movement was all about what one man could do for people. The Tea Party is not about a single man or woman. That is why it is maligned so much from both the left and right. Moreso from the left because they entire movement is all about hero worship and the deification of politicians. That philosophy is present in Europe. They see that high taxes, lack of government response, the Islamic threat, and the welfare state is destroying what they have had for centuries (good or bad).

There were a couple of liberal groups that had the name Tea Party (or some variant) in their name and they got tagged by the IRS so you're wrong.
