Condos vs. hotels?

London Rayne's Avatar
Ok, so I am not exactly cheap when it comes to hotels when I have to use them, but the going rates for 4 star hotels in Boston are double what I have paid anywhere else...even using hotels.com

I decided to look into condo rentals and sure enough....MUCH cheaper. If any of you have experience with condo rentals in the Backbay area, please feel free to share. I obviously can't use the ones that require you to have a key card so I am not looking for the high rise types. Moreso, a single family unit that allows suitors to walk right to my door.

Thanks in advance.

You don't want to rent a condo and then have girls that they won't come and see you for whatever reason. I , too, have been tempted to get a vacation rental because it's much much more cheaper but I like to go with whatever the guy is comfortable with.

So ask the guys you'll be seeing what they think as well as those here.. and go from there.

Duh...why didn't I think of that lol. TER is huge for the Boston area. I have ads there, but didn't think to inquire about this. I figured the higher end ladies and gents might know more.

That ship has sailed. I can't tell ya where, we are not suppossed to promote competing boards. Maybe SROnly can tell ya he seems to have taken a liking to the new board.

You, naomi and nina keep posting and this forum will be back up to speed in no time.

Glad to have you back. Keep in mind that this is Eccie, not that competing Board you are mentioning so prominently. Please do not do that unless you do it in the Forum that was built for precisely that type thing. You can find it in the Forum list.

Oh, sorry.
And there are Connecticut and Boston sections here too. I lurk (ok mod Connecticut) on them.
Try bidding on Priceline and check out Hotwire. You can set up a bid alert via Priceline, you set your star rating and price point and anytime a bid is approved at or below your price point you will be sent an email notification. I use both everywhere I go. The hotels are going to be higher the week you are there due to end of summer before the kiddies head back to school and the new college students coming in with their parents. I pretty much have it down to the point I know exactly which hotel I will be in. Back Bay/Copley Square won't have as many as other area such as Financial District.

I do use hotwire and hotels.com but not priceline. I need to know exactly what kind of room I am getting...i.e. 2 beds, smoking, fridge, microwave, etc. so priceline sucks for me. The ONLY time it helped me was in Nashville where I sort of knew the hotel I would get, and when I arrived they upgraded me to a suite because they had a waiting list for the fridge lol.

I can get 3.5 star hotels for less than $150 usually, but Boston is 3 and up for just a room. I don't mind spending the money, but I want more than a bed and a bathroom in a tiny room.

Veronica Sawyer: This may seem like a really stupid question...
J.D.: There *are* no stupid questions.
Veronica Sawyer: You inherit 5 million dollars the same day aliens land on the earth and say they're going to blow it up in 2 days. What do you do?

I gotta admit, I thought the thread was Condoms vs Hotel.

I was ready to fly to Boston and personally exteend my vote for Hotels.

Hey WTF, Are you in Boston now? Did you relocate? I was there first week of August and had a blast! Where will you be next month? We should hang out.. of course it'll have to be before or after London visits Charlotte .
