TX blocks PornHub

Hi all!

Apparently, Texas has blocked access to the world's most popular porn site, PornHub. I won't get into the technical aspects, but to answer the question, "Can they do that?" Well, duh, they have! The other question is, "Can they legally do that?" Well, it is Texas, and we seem to not recognize the US Constitution except for the parts that serve the current Texas administration.

Can they block access to OF? Yep, it's no more difficult than blocking access to PornHub.

If you have an OF account and they block it, can you get around it?

Yes, if you have a VPN (Virtual Private Network) service that allows you to choose the location of the exit server as being outside the State of Texas.

The other question is, If you are an OF content creator, can TX block electronic funds transfers (payments) to banks in TX?

This one is a bit trickier...

Not exactly. Pornhub is blocking access from Texas as a protest against Texax legislation.

Texas has some sort of legislation that requires adult sites to verify the age of people that visit their sites. Pornhub thinks it should be done some other way, that's tied to the device.

Change your VPN to somewhere in Texas then go to pornhub(dot)com If you're not using a VPN (that's like BBFS. Not IF, but WHEN you will have an issue).

How would YOU go about verifying someones' age in the cyber world ??? You can ask if the user is 18/21 and of course they will confirm that they are, even the 6 year olds. There are HUGE penalties for allowing under age folks access to porn. It is less risky to sell them other contraband products.

I don't run a porn site and don't plan to. Why don't you answer your own question ?

They'd have to ID anyone from an IP that has Texas roots. There are verification services out there, but they cost. Not sure how much $ they average per user from ads so not sure how feasible that would be with that and new programing.

It's cause crazy AG Ken Paxton is a literal asshole who thinks that your rights to free speech or viewing adult related materials should be monitored and prosecute those who offer a look at unclothed females.

Isn't this the same state that is looking to outlaw more adult activities as felonies vs. misdemeanors such as going to a massage parlor? Between him and Abbott, the state has decided to go rouge when it comes to anything to do with your pecker or vajayjay.

I agree with PH's stance on this. PH shouldn't need to ask for your ID and store it on their servers. No one would do this from a security standpoint.

How would u like it if the government system got hacked and now they have a list of people who've verified IDs and they can see every video you've seen for years and years.

PH is trying to find a better way to do it since the current legislation would be essentially forcing PH to store data on their servers.

Some device verification step, or something external should be used.

Kid protection like this should be done at the device level, otherwise it can be worked around too easily. A 15 year old can’t buy a playboy or an adult DVD, solid protection should also be enacted online.
