Pretty damn close is almost an understatement considering the moon is roughly 238,000 miles from earth, on average.

If you really dig astronomy and related subjects you need to watch "Through the Wormhole". For my money it's the best show on television, bar none.

my (at the time) young daughter and I were on the way to the lake very early (pre dawn) one morning and Hale Bop streaked across the sky (west to east) right in front of us, we were driving west to east also ... the show lasted a couple of minutes (it seemed like) and was one of the most awesome sights Ive ever witnessed .. beautiful.
